Audi 2.6 1998 convertible idle problem revs at 1500 even when warm & engine humps, had 2 mechanics look into it cant solve it. Does not happen all the time. This is not an automatic. Can you please help.

Perform Throttle Relearn' with scanner. If relearn shows 'Failed' or 'Not Completed', possible the throttle body is bad. Not unusual for early T/B to fail in this manner.

Do not return to those two mechanics. Any decent import or Audi mechanic will have seen this before. Sometimes cleaning the throttle bore and plate will resolve this problem. Your freindly local parts store ( FLAPS.) will have throttle body cleaner on the self and then all you need is an old tooth brush and some cloth.

1998 Cadillac Catera missing

I'm not a mechanic but from experience I suggest that before you start with repairs, start with the fuel. You may have either picked up some dirty gas when last filled up or just stirred something up in the tank. Try a fuel cleaner from any auto parts store. Also, and this is probably not realated, the check engine light may come on if your gas cap is not tight. Good Luck

1998 audi a4 transmission engaged when depressing brake

You have two problems. First you probably have a bad brake master cylinder, or a severe brake fluid leakage somewhere. Second forcing it into park damaged your transmission.

05 a5 audi quattro my mechanic attemted to change my brake pads said drivers side rear piston just fell out of caliper.he said he had car hooked up to vag and battery went dead. he took battery out,...

He probably set the security system. Look in your manual to see how to reset it. Since he removed the battery, there are things that have to be done to the car that a dealer has to do. Also check and clear all codes on the computer. this will help to get the car started. Just a note , but you might want to consider another mechanic, one that is up to speed with all the codes and gadgets you have to disarm before you remove the power source.

to save you a lot of expense and time get the car on the diagnostic computer and hopefully the problem will show itself.(cars today are all computer controlled and almost all european built cars have control units that are NOT peripherals)

1998 Intrepid random misfire

I have a 98 dodge intrepid with a 2.7. My car would run fine at times and then all of a sudden start to miss badly and the valves would rattle. The mechanic changed the cam shaft sensor and now it runs very well.
