On 3.7/4.7L engines follow the lower radiator hose to the engine block. it will be attached to the thermostat housing by the pulley. You may need to lift the truck and disassemble the splash guard to gain easy access. Make sure your system is cooled and not pressurized.
the termostat on your 2004 trail blazer with the 4.2l in line six is located under neath the alternator you have to remove the alternator to remove the termostat.
if you're referring to the thermostatic valve in the coolant line, then yes, yes it does have that. it's located at the end of the upper radiator hose (return line) close to the engine. it's inside of what may look sorta like an elbow pipe.
I had the same problem a couple of years ago. It is actually located on the bottom of the engine. I have no clue why. They are usually located on the top for easy access.
Follow the hose coming from the bottom of the radiator to the engine block.
USING A PAIR OF PLIERS RELEASE HOSE CLIP AND DISCONNECT THE HOSE FROM THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING LOOSEN AND REMOVE THE THERMOSTAT COVER BOLTS AND CAREFULLY THE TERMOSTAT COVER AND WITHDRAW THE TERMOSTAT FROM HOUSING REPLACE NEW TERMOSTAT ,RE FITTING IS THE REVERSE OF THE REMOVAL, BEARING IN MIND IN THE FOLLOWING POINTS ENSURE THAT THE THERMOSTAT IS CORRECTLY LOCATED IN THE HOUSING AND FIT A NEW SEALING RING .
The jiggle valve must be placed in the recess provided at one side of the t-stat housing. The side of the t-stat that looks like an erect nipple, must point up.
Simple! Your motor will Overheat and Stop causing you to have to get it Rebuilt. If you Follow the Top Radiator Hose to the Block there is a Bell Housing that the Hose Connects to. Remove the Hose and the Bell housing. Thermostat is Under the Bell housing, Looks kinda like a U.F.O.! LOL
