Yeah these problems can only be diagnosed when they aren't working. Most likely cause would be the switch for the blower. I have a this happen twice and that was the cause.

Remove the belt and check all pulleys for smooth operation. any binding at all is amplified when belt tension is applied. also check the belt itself...If it's glazed or dried out, it can be noisy.
replace coil pack, or check fuel pump is working,worst case peplace ecu(engine management computor unit)check spark leads,and fit new spark plugs,discard all the ones in the engine ,thats in there,with new ones,,,,,,,
My expertise is more powertrain,but....probably an issue with the vehicle computer,more specifically body computer.Most vehicles now have several computers,one for the powertrain,one for the body,one for the anti lock brakes,another for the air bags,etc etc..
