I have a 2001 Bmw X5 3.0 ltr....The a/c compressor

I have a 2001 Bmw X5 3.0 ltr....The a/c compressor stays on when the unit is turned off, and when it is turned on the blowing is inconsistent as if the vents are blocked...Any suggestions?
