Bring it to a mechanic different than the one who gave you that advice. I suspect that the plug gasket is leaking. It is possible that you need a new oil pan if you hit it with something like a rock or driving over a curb. Again a mechanic can inspect it and tell you right away. The dealer oil changes have nothing to do with this.
is your toyota corolla diesel engine or petrol engine? I personally use for Cyprus hot climate 10W40 Semi Synthetic oil also I believe for moderate climate you can use the same viscosity as well. Also the same oil you can use it on diesel engine .
Well looking at the age of your car,it would need a valve seals replacement,in order to fix your problem.This would cost you around for about 1500-2000 $.
Look in your owners manual in the fuse section and then check the fuse for radio/clock. My 90 Corolla fuses are on the kick panel on drivers side but not sure about a 2000 model.
remove phillips scew and the door handle. remove padded arm rest on the door by lifting it up, and remove 2 screws. You can use a panel tool to remove the plastic toggle like pins holding the panel border in. Be as gentle as possible they may break due to becoming brittle.
