Question about 2000 Chrysler Town & Country

1 Answer

My 2000 chrysler town and country will not start. I removed the air cleaner and sprayed starting fluid and it fired, but it is not getting fuel. I do not have a wiring schematic, so I was wondering how often the fuel pump relay becomes a problem?

Relay not many problems Fuel pump more so, check by disconnecting fuel supply line and turning on ignition check for fuel supply ,into empty container of course, disconnect from out let side of fuel filter first. If nothing then from inside of filter if ok filter blocked if no supply pump not working.

2000 Chrysler stalls while at stop sign or when I let off the gas when it is cold

First off it is hard to diagnose cars without seeing them. That being said the most common cause of these 2 problems occurring together and being worse when the engine is cold would be a vacuum leak. Because a vacuum leak is a mechanical problem it is not computer controlled and therefore will not show up as a code until the problem is so bad that computer assisted components can no longer control it. The scanner will show higher short term fuel trim data because the computer will be adding extra fuel. ( Hence the bad gas mileage). The easiest way to find this leak is to purchase a can of carburetor cleaner. Use the plastic straw on the can and spray carefully around the intake manifold. When an air leak is found by the carb cleaner the engine rpm will rise. As you get closer to the leak spray less and less cleaner and be more aware of wear you are spraying.

Hard starting sometimes.have to spray starting fluid in throttle plate to start

If the pump relay is working and the pump runs when you turn the key on, it could be the check valve in the pump. The valve could be allowing fuel pressure to drain back into the tank when the engine is off.

I have a 96 town and country and it will not start. It cranks over but will not fire. I put a meter on the coil packs green connecting wire and cranked over engine and had 12. If the coil pack is getting...

try spraying starter fluid in intake from air filter housing when you crank. if it sounds like its going to start, you have a fuel problem. If not, you have ignition problem. For fuel, could be filter or pump.

My 2002 town and country was stalling often and idling rough. i replaced the spark plugs, plug wires and the coil. it is still doing it. it has the 3.8 liter engine. i also tried to clean the throttle...

I helped a friend with a similar problem on his T&C. No check engine code. It was a dirty MAF sensor.
You can get special MAF spray cleaner at your local auto parts store.
As I recall, the sensor is located between the air fliter and the throttle body.
Remove the sensor from the air inlet.
Spray the sensor, soak, spray, soak, etc. Take your time. But, do NOT scrub it with a brush or cloth. Spray only.

2000 CHRYSLER LXI 3.2 ENGINE WILL NOT START ENGINE TURNS OVER NO PROBLEM BYT WILL NOT START

Try a basic test first. Get some starting fluid from the part store and spray some in the air cleaner and try to start the car. If it tries to start on this fluid, then you know you have a fuel problem, if not, then it could be a spark or timing issue. Do this test first and post the results and I can help you more.
