Question about 2003 Jeep Liberty
I have had a similar problem. Turn the key and there is power, but nothing turns over. No clicking. No codes. If you wait 10 minutes you can sometimes get it started. I replaced the starter in the spring after it got really bad and that seemed to fix the problem for a few months. It's now getting worse again. If it is the starter, what can be killing them?
Test the electrical circuit using voltage drop testing . Plus look at a wiring diagram to see what all is involved for the starting system on your vehicle .

is the engine grounded to the body? if so, you may have a key issue that's only going to get worse. your key is coded, black square ignition key right? $75.00 dealer only. sorry but it sounds like that's your problem. almost like a valet key. only works for short time and if you keep using it, it will blow the fuel pump$379.00 please do more research! hope this helps, and merry christmas from me and mine,to you and yours.

SOURCE: 2002 Jeep liberty headlights cut
the clicking your hearing is the relay trying to stay engaged, its heating up causing the relay to power down, which in turn you lose the lights, the heat is caused by the electrical current supplied to the replay, Not the outside temp , locate that relay and replace it, and your problem should be gone
