Is this vehicle petrol or diesel ??? 1.9 is a diesel ,1.6 is a petrol so am i to assume this is a diesel vehicle?? if it it a diesel then check the primer on top of the fuel filter ,it a thin rubber membrane and they split very often ,try pumping it and diesel leaks renew it.

Try adding some amount of carb cleaner to clear the nozzle of the injectors. If the sound of the engine improves, add more cleaner.

Another possibility is that air is trapped in the pipeline forming an airlock somewhere between the fuel tank & the pump. Bleed it free & then try it out.

Check the same line for any bloackage........................sodeep

The fuel bar may be clogged and in need of replacement or possible to repair it also the fuel filter may need replacing there is a valve on the fuel bar itself pull it and see if with the aid of a small screwdriver push it shielding your eyes with the keys on press it to make sure it disburses gas if so then it truly is the fuel rail .....also look for visible break in the fuel line or the odor of gas as this my also contribute to the issue the hand

SOURCE: 1993 ford escort wagon,no electric to injectors

The fuel delivery system uses an electric fuel pump to provide high-pressure fuel to the fuel injectors. The fuel pump is located at the rear of the vehicle, mounted in the fuel tank. It can be accessed by removing the rear seat.

The fuel tubes leading from the fuel tank to the engine are under pressure during vehicle operation. When the engine is turned OFF, the fuel in the fuel tubes remains pressurized for long periods of time to provide quick start-ups. Fuel not used by the fuel injectors during operation is routed back to the fuel tank through the fuel return tube.

The fuel handling components are protected by three fuel filters. A replaceable in-line fuel filter is located inside the engine compartment between the fuel tank and fuel injection supply manifold. A serviceable filter screen is located inside the fuel tank at the fuel pump inlet. A non-serviceable filter screen is incorporated into each fuel injector.

Battery drain on 30a fuel injector fuse 99 ford escort

The power through the fuse is to the fuel pump, this only runs long enough to pressure the fuel behind the injectors so that when they open the fuel is an high pressure. So you will normally hear it when you put the key in and turn it, before you start the engine, and then while driving it will be on. Your fuel pump is running longer than usual, because the fuel is not getting up to sufficient pressure. This would also account for the poor running. If you do not have fuel leaking all over the floor, the first thing to replace is the fuel filter. These get dirty over time, especially if you ran the tank dry in recent months. If its blocked the fuel pump tries hard to suck fuel from the tank through it and fails.

I have a ford escort rs turbo s2 1988 mk 4 it starts then it stops it starts because of the cold start valve im sure there is somthink wrong with the fuel metering unit as it is not pumping any fuel in to...

The crankshaft position sensor gives a report on engine rpm and this is how the fuel pressure is set for a given rpm. The cold start sequence could temporarily enrichen the fuel and adjust rpm then hand off duties to position sensors. Also cam timing sensor needs to work to maintain fuel flow.

1999 ford escort sport wont start turns over

Check all fuses first. Then have someone listen near the back wheel when you first turn the key to "on" they should hear a hum if the fuel pump is working. If not, you will need a pressure tester for the fuel system to check for pressure at the test port near the engine. If OK, check for spark and injector pulse (you'll need noid lights for the injectors). If fuel pressure is low or none, you need a pump (don't replace till you check to see if it's getting power). If no spark or injector pulse, you probably need a Crank Position Sensor.

if it doesnt start with quick start then the problem is not fuel related. You have an ignition issue like a bad crans sensor or ignition module or even possible a blown fuse if you have a ECM or ING fuse
