Check engine light came on after a left turn. Needs Oil Change (about 800 miles over) could it be that the light came on as another reminder to get oil changed?

the check engine light is not connected to any oil issue, it indicates a fault has occured in the engine controls or emission controls, there are about 200 diff fualts poss, have the system tested for OBD 2 fault codes.
