How do i adjust a very high idle on my chrysler lebaron 1988?

  • montehammons Jul 12, 2012

LOL ! I'll rate this answer good for the memories it brings back. My dad owned about 5 or 6, maybe more Chryslers all during the '60's and '70's, most of them brand new. His first Chrsler was a '54 model sedan that he bought in about '60 or '61. He loved them. Last Chrysler he bought was an '84 model and he hated it-never bought another Chrysler after that. They just lost their soft ride, I guess. Not sure if that was a lebaron model but similar. And that lean burn system seemed to always act up, but no worse than fords or chevys-all of them, big eared iron, and no brains between them !

Shoot it with a shot gun and then put it in drive while at idle rpm then should be fine you may have to kick the tire and bend the antenna a little bit to get the right rpm back

How do i change the transmission fluid on my 1988 lebaron turbo

some mechanics remove the hose going to the cooler tank and run the engine at idle till oil stops running. I like to remove the oil pan, clean it and fit a new filter.

What is the idle speed 3.0 V6 chrysler 1994. I need to set the timing and nowhere does it mention the idle speed

Well the idle speed is computer controlled, so there's no adjustment.
Normal idle is around 800 rpm.

1988 chrysler lebaron turbo 2.2 liter no speed going up hill at all slow what could be the problem

It may be the car speed not to meet the condition of starting turbo 2.1 liter, so turbo has not speed function. Check car by diagnostic tool regularly.

88 LeBaron --3 things...

problem 1 check the motors side by side
if the operation and mounting is the same more than likely will
problem 2 put the hand brake on and start the car, place in gear if it idles ok then put your foot on the brake --if it plays up it is a vacuum leak in the brake booster
problem 3-- gm has a policy of not changing transmission oil
if the car has more than 100,000miles on it , I would suggest taking it to an accredited transmission specialist shop, have the bands and clutch packs adjusted and a transmission oil change done
