I have a 1998 mitsubishi galant es and need a tranny.

the truth is , you didnt post country, nor engine size.
they match engine power to transmission (load rating)
so>? forget that.. that is for later.
IT DIED< so if the engine dont START the tranny issues are moot.
so does it crank.????
if it cranks , it next needs spark got spark to all cylinders.
that is if its not the Diesel engine, IS IT??

Did you already removed the door panel? If yes check the track, it could be loose

it may be in limp mode if you have a transmission problem check eng light on?

Don't shot the messenger but without tranny fluid your transmission may have cooked itself. I hope I am wrong but I expect you'll need to rebuild or replace the tranny.

You may try changing the fuel filter.

Don't know if you ever got this fixed, but my guess is it's a bad throttle position sensor.

try 8002 or 8007

The whirring noise sounds like something broke inside your tranns. so it is likely to require a rebuild.

dose the car have a o/d button

if so it sounds like the end clutch has died in the auto and you will need to go to a auto specialist.

check you auto oil level first and go from there

the tranny needs to be serviced. filter is probably stopping up with trash over time.
