CV joint - wheel side needs to be replaced :) right wheel, a lot of people drive like that for a while before they fix it so don't worry, also it shouldn't be soooo expensive
Remove carter pin from nut.
remove nut
use tierod end splitter to knock it loose.
loosen nuts on sleve
count how many turns out untill it comes off
count same number of turns in
get a front eny aligment
grab the tie rod end very tite with vice grips. loosen clamp on tie rod near ball joint fit wrench or more vice grips on ball joint. try to turn the tie rod it would help to soak the threads awhile with w-d 40 or heat the tie rod where it screws in the bal joint with a propane or some type torch. before removing the tie rod count the number of turns it takes to get it out so when you put it back your front end will still be aligned. i believe it would be smart to knock the tie rod end loose before anything else. remove cottre pi and nut from bottom of tie rod end. you can use a tie rod separator that looks like afuning fork or just crawl under the ****** and beat the hell out of the tie rod bolt, not always easy, use heavy hammer.dont beat the bolt if you plan to reuse the tie rod end cause you'll never get a nut back on it. most rental shops have tie rod seperators auto zone loans them usually. good luck from sunny austin fx
tie rod ends are not to costly to replace but check the Ball joints and the front end during repair and then have a car allindment (ps because it is a foriegn model it might cost alittle more than a domestic.
from the sound your describing you have a tie rod or ball joint getting dry or wore. without jacking the car, have a helper sit in car and move steering as indicated to cause the noise and get under car. leave engine off so you can hear. when you see what side it on, isolate the component by placing your hand on the metioned parts and you will 'feel' the noise. once you find, then jack the car and check for freeplay. the noisy part may be loose. if its a ball joint they are greaseable if you take the wheel off you can access. the lower control arm bushings are common to fail too or a broken sway bar link. if you dont feel up to getting into take to any shop and explain issue. it doesnt take a long time to evaluate. make sure you do asap it could be DANGEROUS if a tie rod or ball joint fail while driving. noises mean your car is saying HELP- be sure to listen
If the knocking sound is coming from the steering wheel area itself, then I believe it's the nylon bushing in the steering colum. My friend had the same problem with his truck. The other trucks we work on at the shop seem to have this common problem.
If it's sounds like its outside the truck, have the tie rod ends checked out.
My advise is when u get a humming noise when banking left or right. Its beter to change both left and right wheel bearing and ball joints. Cause if u think about it those parts are put on at the same time . So if u think about it they have the same where in Terre . left or right hope this helps you.
