I have a 98 nissan primera sri with the factory fitted nats alarm/immobiliser.the mil light is flashing on the instrument panel and the alarm indication light is on when i turn on the ignition.the engine will start for a second then cut out as if the immobiliser has shut it down.i have tried a few sequences with the key and fob descibed in the nissan hand book but with no joy please can you help?

the ignition relay may have gone. in the fuse box. or the immobiliser is not turning off. could be the chip in the key has moved. or the reader has failed. in key there is a black square should be sitting near to the key end. reader is fitted around the ignition barrel. immobiliser if the light is still flashing or flashes every minute it has failed.
my 98 passat estate has a fob with the drivers key which activates the alarm in the boot,bit like an immobiliser, just put it in the hole located near or on the alarm,should hear it beep.don't know if its a factory fit alarm.hope this was helpful.
Its just the immobiliser light - telling you that your car is protected. A factory theft alarm. Refer to your owners manual for more detail about this instrument symbol for more detail.
should have an immobiliser in it,you can tell if theres a flashing light on the dash somewhere that illuminates when the car is off,it will be a factory thing not fitted later ,if you cant see one anywhere it may not have one,it would be listed in the owners manual if you have it
