Problem for Mitsubishi 1997 Eclipse

I have a project 97 eclipse RS. The engine was out

I have a project 97 eclipse RS. The engine was out and in tons of pieces when we got it... I am wanting to a turboed engine and to make it faster, should I just buy a new turboed engine or can I put a turbo on this one? I know absolutely nothing about this cars engine and neither does my husband.
