If oil and transmission is not leaking, then no reason to fill them. The oil dipstick is marked with an "ADD" and "FULL" mark. Pull the oil dipstick and check the fluid level. It is is at ADD or below, add 1 quart and repeat the process of checking the level.

To check the trasnsmission fluid, you have to start the car, let it warm up for a few minutes, and then check the dipstick while the car is running.

The main things to check are 1.engine oil, pull out the dipstick and, if it is well below the full line, top up the engine via the oil filler cap. 2. coolant, while engine is cool remove radiator cap and top up with coolant if needed, then fill overflow bottle to full level on side of bottle. If those 2 things are okay your engine won't be damaged. Subarus around that year were fairly hard on ignition points so I'd check or replace those if it were running rough. The carburetor may also need to be removed, stripped and cleaned. ( Although, if it's only been sitting for a year, it could be still okay). Pay attention to lights and guages until you are happy that it's all good.

What is the oil capacity for a 1989 subaru wagon, and will my engine blow up if I put 1/2 litre too much?

Aprox. 4 - 4.5 qts.No your car will not blow up,the oil will likely burn off,but don't do it too often because it can foul the spark plugs out and damage the catalytic converter.

Where is the fuel pump located on a 1984 subaru Gl ?

I have a 1984 Gl Wagon 4WD; the fuel pump is located on the passenger side, on the frame rail under the back door, just in front of the rear wheel. It and the fuel filter are accessed by dropping the mounting plate that also serves as a protective plate. Again, this is the 4WD non-turbo EA81 engine GL Wagon; could be different on the 2WD version.

86 subaru gl wagon not firing.

I have the same problem with my 86 GL 4WD. One day it started to turn, and then lost all power. I couldn't even turn on the lights. I have played with the ignition switch wires, and gotten it to fire. I think there may be a short somewhere in the switch or the wires to the harness, but I have not isolated it yet. You might check your ignition switch and wiring...
