Sounds like the condensor fan relay is "sticking" - you are sure this is the condensor fan, and not the radiator cooling fan? As electric radiator cooling fans often run after the car is turned off - this is normal - If you are sure it is the condensor fan and it is on with the AC off - Id bet it was the relay responsible (versus the AC control unit) - Locate and remove the relay - if you have a comparable one you can substitue (Make 100% sure it uses the same plug and wiring schematic) and try that - if it now works properly you can try to locate one at your parts store....Hope that helps some....DD

Hello, and welcome to FixYa. Please allow me to assist you.

The MR2 auto transaxles are very reliable units. Just change the ATF with the correct fluid every 30,000 miles. If it has high mileage, 90 + K miles, and is a dirty colour, I'd recommend a transmission flush. This will remove all of the dirty fluid from the system.

The MR2 non-turbo was a fun car, and had very few comon failures.

Try to stay away from the turbo cars, the turbos are know to fail, and the parts and labour to replace the turbo is very expensive.

The MR2s are rather quirky when it comes to servicing the cooling system, you have to bleed the air out. The necessary procedure is in the owner's manual, or online.

Other than those items, the MR2 is a very decent and reliable car. A little noisy, with the engine right behind you, but, that is part of the fun.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance.

Eletric fan wont turn off

Sounds like a relay sticking. The cover where the relays are should be marked, but even if it isn't, you can feel them to see if one seems hotter than the others.

You can remove them, and even swap the one with the same part number, like the blower fan, and the cooling fan, and the a/c compressor.

Hope this help to solve it (remember rated this).

My 1996 Volvo 850 2.4 I5 non-turbo appears to be overheating. I replaced the Thermostat but it still appears to be overheating. How do I troubleshoot to see if it is the radiator or maybe the cooling fans?

first you need to check your cooling fan working you can do so by turning your a/c on if your a/c is working properly/if so turn off a/c and let car sit till overheat and see if fan kicks in.if not possible your fan circuit electrical or sensor related/and also check for air in your system bleed system good check for circulation open radiator cap.

the electric cooling fan for the radiator will not turn on when the engine reaches normal operating temp, its only supposed to come on if the engine temp goes over the normal temp. (around 220 degrees)
it is normal for the fan to come on any time the a/c or defroster is turned on.
