Vw mk 4 polo indicator fuse blowing - hazards ok - possible cause? Tried new fuse - keeps blowing.

Have you put any new tail light or turn signal bulbs in lately? (I assume the Turn signal is what you are referring to - Mk4 polo indicator fuse?) Or has the vehicle been wrecked and just picked up from the bodyshop? For a fuse to blow, the positive (+) lead from the accessory is coming in contact with a ground circuit (shorting out) somewhere, or a bare wire is coming in contact with a grounded surface. As I said, this is also quite common when the incorrect bulb is installed - and VW's use different bulbs from most American vehicles. Let me know - If you have recently replaced a bulb, remove it, and re-check for the short - If it goes away you have found the problem -- and find the correct bulb - you can remove the other side and match it for the correct unit....Hope that helps some...

1. There are a couple of causes for hazards lights so you need to take the car to a ,mechanic to isolate the problem. In the meantime locate the plug in fuse for the Hazard lights and remove it. Normally there is a discrete fuse just for these lights but check your owners manual which will also show you the fuse location.

2. Drivers door locking system. There is a fault with the lock actuator located in the door and it will probably need to be replaced after examination. The door trim has to be removed to access the mechanism. It needs to be checked in position to see if it is only sticking or needs replacing.

Hazard warning fuse blows intermittanty

I would be checking the wiring for a short circuit, possibly around the steering column, or check around the indicator lights for possible cuts in the loom or water ingression that might be causing a short. basically check all from switch to lights.

Screen washers will not work on my vw polo 61reg fuse has gone. where is the screen wash fuse in a vw polo 61 reg?

I really doubt the problem is a fuse. More likely the pump is defective or plugged or the washer switch is defective, use a test light and problem the connector to see if it lights when the washer is activated by the switch. If it was a fuse it will just blow again. Fuses blow for reason that is a shorted circuit.

I have a 2001 VW Polo 1.6 classic. My speedometer would often cut out and stop working, now my entire dashboard is dead, (including the digital odometer which is stuck) even my indicator lights don't work....

Sometimes when the spark plug cables are dying (or are from a lousy manufacturer) it affects the dashboard. Happened to me when i had a 97 Polo, check that, it could be the same problem.

try disconecting the battery completely for about 30 minutes you may get lucky and not have blown the computer. You may also want to change the fuses anyways , sometimes they look good but are still bad.
