SOURCE: My Backup (revers) lights dont light up.Fuses & lights not burt.

As far as your back up lights....check the neutral safety switch. This was a BIG problem on the 98-99 Cadillacs.

On the heated seats....you'll have to check for voltage at the harness where it connects to the seat(s) if you can do this.

Backup lights won t come when in revers

Check the fuse, then the bulbs, then the switch on the transmission. The switch could need adjusting, try moving the gear lever around the reverse point to see if the lights come on, if they do the switch may need adjusting.

Location of the Backup light switch.

I didn't find a location for the backup light switch,

But found the following on Autozone.com:

Backup Light Switch Operation:
00610_backup_light_switch.jpgAn open switch that prevents voltage from being applied to the backup lights until the vehicle is put in reverse. Putting the vehicle in reverse closes the contact and applies power to the rear back-up lights. Check under the dash or somewhere near the steering column if you have a column shifter. If the shifter closes or opens the backup light switch mechanically, one should be able to trace the cable and mechanisms that turn a cam that connects to the backup light switch, somehow. May have to disassemble the steering column area to see it.

The backup lights on my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee won't work. Have checked all the things I know how to except the NSS. Where is the NSS located and am I better off trying to clean/adjust it or replace it?

the backup light gets its power from the neutral safety switch on transmission.
\When you put vehicle in reverse it toggles the switch in the tranny to engage the backup lights.
if that plug has the wire broke off the backup lights will not work.

1998 chevrolet 1500 pops the back-up fuse as soon as I put in reverse. I disconnect the harness by the tailgate, so the problem in not in the back. could it be the back up switch? also traced the wire to...

you may have to go over the whole body harness to look for a short, not just the wiring to the backup lights. check any questionable fusable links, too. if your not sure about the backup switch itself, go ahead and test it.
