Heater makes whining noise on a 2004 Pontiac grand

More than likely something has fallen down the heater ducts and is being hit by the fan as it spins. This happens all the time. It is probably a tough job to get the blower housing opened up enough that you can retrieve whatever is in it, but first try taking some of the ducts off the sides to gain access rather than taking it all apart. There are other things which can become trapped in other parts of the ductwork as well and vibrate in the airflow such as thin plastic things and paper. This would of course change based on how fast the fan is blowing and you may be able to blow them out of the ducts by alternating the fan between off and full blast. The other possibility is that your blower motor is in the process of dying.

AC BLOWING THROUGH DEFROSTER VENTS

on the controls for you AC there is settings that send it where you want, floor, dash, vent, defrost. choose vent. Also notorious for vent doors getting stuck from dirt, leaves etc going down the breather under your hood on top the rear fire wall down the holes and clogging the louvers so they cant switch over. check the setting but if not, this is really a job for buick. pretty complicated and risky to mess with for the novice machanic.

Emergency brake stuck

Raise the car , use jack stands for safety, inspect the e-brake cable assemblies along the bottom of the car for any signs of impact damage. Next, spin each wheel to see if one or both wheels are affected. Remove both rear wheels , if you have drums, try to wiggle or pry the drum off with a couple of screw drivers , inspect for fallen or broken hardware, if all looks ok, roll the adjuster so the drums can be installed freely. If this is caliper style, remove caliper , press and rotate the piston inward at least 1/4 ,if your going to install new pads, go all the way in, re-install calipers and wheels, depress brake pedal until firm and recheck wheels for binding.

Purchased a month ago, was fine, hit a pothole smelled a strong smell of gas and then check engine light came on. Then within driving very srong smell of gas. That problem was fixed but check engine still...

have someone, or yourself hook up a code retriever, to the aldl, under your instrument panel, on the drivers side, this will tell you what triuble codes that the computer has picked up, and then you can check those areas, in order to fix the problem, once the problem is fixed, you can remove the check engine light with the tester, or remove the positive battery cable for about 1 minute, then reconnect it, you will most likely have to reset your clock, and any radio functions that might have been disturbed, the light should be out, hope that this information has helped you.

Can't open the back door of my LR3

If its a problem that the rear door handle is stuck in the upper position, then you need to use a screwdriver to pull the handle down , then use wd40 and spray up into the handle mechanism. Its common that handles stick, due to road dirt wafting up there as you drive along.
If this is not the case , and its due to the lock mechanism itself, then you will have to get into the rear compartment and remove the door trim pad, then pull the plastic protection away and get access to the lock mechanism. Check that a lock rod has not broken or fallen off, try to lift the unlock rod and see if the door opens, in which case you can adjust the rod and that should do the trick, it maybe that you need a new mechanism, they can fail.
Hope this helps

2000 grand caravan sliding door won;t open

I would start by pulling the door panel off the inside. This will give you a look at the lock and handle mechanism to see what is amiss. Suspect a broken, fallen link that may now be lying in the bottom door channel and retrievable with magnetic pick-up tool. Get a good trim removal tool since a panel that large is easy to mar if you try pulling it with a screwdriver. Have a helper assist with the job and start by pulling the rear and middle seats if you can. To cheat on this, you may want to pull the panel on the opposite door to see how everything is supposed to look.
