Jump Starter is flat, or old with a failing battery. If looked after, they last about 2 years. Look at it another way, compare the size of your car battery, to the total size of the jump starter unit. It can possibly have enough cold cranking amps for a big Chevy.
Had a vehicle awhile back that had that same problem , the crankshaft position sensor was bad . I know you probably don't have the test equipment I have at my disposal . I hooked up a lab scope to both crank sensor an cam sensor could see the signal dropping out . What size engine does yours have ? That year three engine's were available 3.5 , 3.9 ,5.3 L ! There are videos on your tube showing how to test crank sensors , cam sensors etc....
First, park on level ground, leave the engine running, put it in park, grab a rag or paper towel, open the hood, find transmission dipstick, and check the level. Add if needed.
There
are 2 PDF documents (above the photo) to look up. The first - Routing Guide - gives you
the diagram code for the vehicle - 6 cylinder engines . See page 14 for the 2006 Chev Impala. Diagram code 9-15.
Diagram 9-15 can be found in the second PDF - the iIlustration Guide.
Hope this helps. Cheers Sean Voluntary contributor.
