To remove the window motor on this truck remove the door panel to access the window regulator and motor assembly. The regulator might be riveted in so you will have to knock out the rivets to remove it and replace them with bolts and nuts. Once you remove the rivets lower the regulator and window down to slide regulator out of the channel on the bottom of the window once removed from window push window back up and tape in position to pull regulator and motor out unbolt motor of regulator being careful not to let tension spring on regulator to release real fast it will mess it up. Replace motor and reinstall regulator assembly back in the door on the window and bolt into place. Put door back together.

Everything sounds good but.... to change the window mechanism you have to take the window out !! How do you do that ???

Most of the time you can disconnect the window from the mechanism (regulator) and push it all the way up, wedge some folded thick paper in there to hold it up and there is enough room to get the regulator out. But the problem is probably in the motor gearing. If the motor hasn't been removed before, you will have to drill out the rivets holding it to the door. With the motor removed, remove the three screws holding the cover on the gear. Inside you will find a bunch of ground up plastic remove the gear and thoroughly clean everything. Advance auto parts sells three little balls called gear plugs for 7.99. Ther's also a gear kit that includes the big gear. But it's almost always only those plugs that are bad. If you don't have a 1/4 inch rivet gun, you can put the motor back using 1/4 inch bolts. This happens all the time so the parts man probably knows exactly what you need.

Drivers side pwr window not working, motor runs but window will not move, in up position

If the motor moves then either the gears are stripped in the regulator or the window is off track. More then likely its the motor assembly which has the gears in it. Some older fords offer a gear rebuild kit for the window motors or you can buy the motor with the gear assembly for about 30$

Window will not roll up or down . trunk will not shut completely

Two problems are simular but not related. The power window the door panel can be removed, theres screws behind the door opener handle. and on the bottm edge of the panel , under plugs in the ends on the door closer armrest handle. once their all removed the panel needs to be lifted up and off its hooks theres wires connected to the switches in the panel and they can be picked unlocked and unplugged, Once the wires are off the motor is in plain veiw and it can be unbolted with 3 10MM headed screws with it off reconnect the switch and turn on the car and work the window with the swich if the gear turns good and you can't hold it back the window regulater has come off the window or it's broken the gear drive in the motor has a clutch and it can fail too. Removing the screw that holds the gear into the motor the gear can be lifted out. the clutch has three plastic roolers and they can break and or change to mush. They can be bought at an auto parts store. A new motor sometimes doesn't come with the clutch and the gear as your suposed to move them to the new motor. So if you end up needing a new gear make sure the new motor has all the parts that you need.

Our power window gears do not work. motor works, window slips. do we change the whole motor?

Yes, change the motor out. It has a plastic/nylon bushing in it that some parts houses do sell. However, most parts stores now sell lifetime warranty motors, if youre going through the trouble of taking the motor of to replace the bushing better to replace the entire motor so if the bushing or motor goes bad you get a free replacement.

Power window not working, motor and electric good, whats wrong?

Well either the gears aunt lined up correctly or the motor old and tired. Doesn't have enough power/torque to spin gears. might just need a new motor.

the window regulator is bolted or riveted to the door frame..the window is bolted to the window regulator(do that first).. once unplugged and out you can disassemble motor from regulator adn change out failed motor or failed regulator (big sissors looking metal arm system) usual problem is stripped teeth on regulator (driven gears)... if rivets held regulator you will need to change to small bolts/washers to reassemble... good luck

    1992 f150 power window

If the window motor runs then perhaps the window channels need lube, get a can of silicone spray lube and apply to both window channels until it drips out the door bottom and then retry, if no change replace the regulator.
