Question about Porsche 944
1983 Porsche 944 coil goes bad, just replace coil and ran great then 4 days later coil is bad again. What would caue the coil to go bad
What do you mean by bad? Does it measure a different resistance.
Here is the thing on coils, I do not understand why they are not made differently, but
coils are to be run at a lower voltage, often. some like older cars, no more than 8 volts....Think about it...That is a LOT of resistance to scrub down to 8 volts, hello? the system is 13.8 to 14.9 volts NORMAL.....
But I digress.
These resistors fail and the amount that they should do, they cannot do.
One thing that I do as a diagnostic test is to buy a coil, any coil with an INTERNAL resistor. So, I can put full sysytem voltage to it....If it lasts, investigate the viotage available at the coil.
