Question about 2005 Kia Sorento

Open Question

Car will not start. The dash lights flash on & off

My Kia would not start so I bought a new battery. (it was time for a new on anyway) When I put in the new one, it still would not start and I noticed a "clicking" sound in the dash and under the hood. I opened the fuse box under the hood and noticed one of the relays was "clicking". I pulled it out and it stopped. However, the clicking in the dashboard continued. As I looked closer, I saw that the back lights on the dashboard were going on and off real fast, even with the key pulled from the ignition. I put in a new relay in the fuse panel under the hood and it started "clicking" again. So obviously that is OK. What is causing my lights to flicker on and off so rapidly? This is what probably caused my battery to die in the first place. Thank you!

SOURCE: fuse problem in my kia sportage 1996

Are you sure that you looked at ALL the Fuses? Could be the Cigarette Lighter Fuse or a Fuse under the Hood in That Fuse Box. There are a Few fuses that Link between the Fuse Boxes and Have Multiple Functions. Try this and see.

1996 Plymouth breeze..light flashing red on dash above spedometer .could that draw enough power to drain the battery. Iam going to get a new battery tomorrow's his car is driving me bananas. Now the

Yes, if the car is left off and the light flashes and the battery condition is poor that COULD cause the problem. Put in a new batery and remove the door light and see if the problrm goes away. Chances are the door switch is bad ot there is an electical short. That door light might be on all the time and you don't know it if it is dim. Good Luck

I HAVE A 2003 KIA SPECTRA THAT IS NOT CHARGING, THE ALTERNATOR CHECKS OUT GOOD ON TESTER BUT REPLACED IT ANYWAY AND STILL NOT CHARGING. CAN ANYBODY HELP ME WITH THIS ISSUE.

if the alt is working then there may be a draw on the electrcal system when the key is off ,and pulling the charge out of your battery in time,a good way to ck. this is to first unplug the underhood light then unhook the positive battery c able use a 12v.test light between the battery and the unhooked cable if the light is on there is a draw go to the fuse pannels (under hood &under dash)pull one fuse at a time till the test light shuts off,that is the curcut with the draw,then look for shorts ,no ground and ect.

then new battery should be taken back to the shop where you bought it and exchanged under warranty. New batteries are known to have bad cells from manufacture and that is why there is a warranty. If you got it from a battery shop then a load test will prove a dead cell.;

Car turned off while driving.

The loose cable sounds plausible. Since it could have lost connection and then reconnected so was able to get up again and maybe didn't notice the first time. It couldn't be a battery cable however unless it was touching something else and shoting because you dont need your battery after the vehicle is started anyway,

replace air filter and fuel filter,clean fuel injectors,because when they get dirty clogged with carbon.injectors will leak fuel out at the fuel injectors instead fuel return to gas tank when engine off,fuel will leak down in the engine flood it causing spark plugs to foul.

I haven't had too many problems with my 06 Kia until recently. My airbag warning light came on so I took it in. They say it's a seatbelt part that needs to be replaced & low voltage on the battery....

NO, It isn't. They are just mad because you bought the battery someplace else. It's not rocket science to put a battery in a vehicle. If you know a reasonably priced attorney have him send a letter of intention to file under the Lemon Law protections to them and I bet you they fix it real quick. The seat belt would not have anything to do with the Airbag to begin with unless you were talking about the passenger side bag warning that the person isn't seated properly which is a sensor. Normally when an Airbag warning goes off it is because there is a fault in the Airbag gas cylinder or impact sensor if someone possibly bumped your front or rear bumpers, not enough to do damage to the body but enough to possibly damage the sensor. If they refuse to fix this under warranty as it should have been when you brought the vehicle in the first time, take it to another shop and then after it is fixed complain directly to KIA and the Better Business, BBB.
