EAC fail light and loss of power

Same as Shelagh. The diagnostic computer said it was a failed Throttle pedal sensor and at my garage they got same result. So I spent £145 replacing it but the problem remained. I can drive but can't get full power, but it will pack in before long. New test found another fault with another electric part but garage will look at everything on Monday.

I had an 03 model for 3 years, no problems. This is 55, pain in the neck so far.

Yes you need a diagnostic tool to read the error code and from there carry out any repairs.

SOURCE: EAC FAIL FORD FUSION 03

I have an EAC failure on my wifes 53 reg Fusion 1.4 and it's been off the road for 2 months. An independent check showed fault code P2135, which relates to the throttle body but fitting a body from a healthy Fiesta with the same engine didn't solve the problem. I was advised to check wiring to the body but all seemed OK. Took car to Ford who stated that the car needs an updated body and wiring and the parts are on back order with first delivery not due until Jan 2010! Why the car won't work with replacement original parts is a mystery. I'm very disappointed with Ford. Sorry this doesn't solve the problem but hope it clarifies the situation. 2001 honda passport; takes spells where it wont idle with out foot on gas pedal, now the loss of power light is on and the check engine light is on. had the codes done and it shows throttle body sensor ,...

did you check all fuses, yet, in both boxes????????
that power light , please be more clear there, seems that be a
first order failure, right?
there are 4 power lights on cars each have word in front.
here is one, this it? "ENGINE??????"
http://dashboardsymbols.com/2010/11/reduced-engine-power-light/
that means the engine is in LIMPOME ! but why? easy !

and in the FSM it tells you all the ways to get there. LIMP.

oneway is any time the throttle by wire gets upset, (drop a hat?)
just about anything can trip TBW ,
even vacuum leaks,

ever tune it up in 13 years? 13 year old spark plugs?
post the DTCs not the lookups. most are wrong. on the net...
honda has its own DTCs. P1xxxx , post those. not Autozoned bs.
car is Flybywire, those are expense to fix. dont buy cars with it...
all are..... and diagnosis is hard, and many shops throw parts
at it , to the tune of $1000+ labor, to find a vacuum leak, and a huge bill. (zillion hits on many car forums, for that)
but to them, it huge ticket builder $$$$, vast profits on this system.

BTW, (by the way) TBW has no throttle cable.
Eg>
so TBW has a elect. motor on the TB TV, throttebody , throttle valve (butterfly) (an electric throttle it IS)

you step on the pedal, the sensor there, sends a Demand to the
PCM, the pcm sees, say 20% Throttle angle, from the driver.
the PCM then runs the motor to 20% (using dynamic tables)
then checks, 2 , that is 2x TPS. sensors to see if the valve did
in fact open to 20% , if not FAIL, if one sensor differs to the other FAIL.
if the TB valve is all gummed up from the PCV/EGR black cloud of death?, then FAIL. if any part in this sequence of events fails ,, bam
fail safe and a bunch of DTCs,

The PCM monitors engine air flows all thru this process and
if the air flow is wrong , for demand, FAIL !!!
the PCM models the TV, and makes darn sure under any possilbe
failure mode
, the throttle NEVER GETS OUT OF CONTROL!
This latter part, alone can trip DTCs. (i call them soft fails)

imagine some part was to cause air leaks, during the throttle event.
BAM.
egr leaks.?
what ever......? vacuum paths are complex....

but do get the FSM , do read it on TBW
and do the tests stated there.
Factory service manual.= FSM
all my 3 letter words are all ASE/SAE spec.
if we dont use the 3 letter words the FSM grows from 4 inches thick to 8.

DTC, diagnostic trouble codes
TB , throttle body
EGR, ,exh, gas recric.
TBW , throttle by wire.
TB , throttle body or TV throttle valve.
PCM powertrain control module (engine brain + Tranny)

many are here those names.

do you miss CARBS yet?

now some jokes. kid friendly ( worse than TBW)

Ford fusion warning EAC FAIL

More than likely a TPS intermitant failure. Check for DTC's. The EAC refers to Electronic Acceleration Circuit. This could be the pedal sensor or a short in the circuit. More than likely it is the TPS, but GET CODES FIRST. Don't just throw parts at your Fusion.

- Faulty Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor
- Faulty Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor
- TP sensor not seated properly.
- Faulty Throttle Position (TP) sensor.
- Dirty throttle body
When is the code detected? The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors operation rationality check by comparing sensed throttle position to mass air flow readings
P0068 DODGE Description The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors a vehicle operation rationality check by comparing Throttle Position (TP) to Mass Air Flow (MAF) readings. If, during a self-test, the comparison of the TP sensor and MAF sensor readings are not consistent with the calibrated load values, the test fails and a diagnostic trouble code is stored in continuous memory.

There are a number of these type videos on youtube ! Do you have a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? Find a wiring diagram at http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Three are two position sensors on the gas pedal an two on the throttle body . Find videos on test TPS - throttle position sensors , check the circuits too the PCM an from the gas pedal to the PCM . You can also check motor circuit as well .

EAC FAIL ON A 2004 PLATE FORD FUSION 2

the best thing to do at this point is to have the diagnostic trouble codes read that may be stored in the memory of the on board computer, it is called the OBD 2 (on board diagnostics generation two) electronic engine control system.
