Their is a sensor screwed into the radiator which sends a signal to the fan relay when the radiator gets hot and activates the fan. If you changed the relay then this is most likely the problem. But it may be the fan. To check remove the plug from the fan and when radiator get's hot check if power is comming through the wire's.

1999 Nisan altima Fan not working. good at relay. changed temp sensor. will not work when air on. engine gets hot after 15 min. Radiator has been replaced. Fans work when relay crossed.

When the ECT sensor is disconnected does the fan go on? This checks the circuit entirely and is a quick way to test proper operation. When you say it gets hotter, that can mean allot, is it overheating and the check engine light comes on?, the AC will raise the engine temp at least 10-16 Degrees Fahrenheit.

My cooling fans will not come on with the ac on nor when the temp reaches as high as 235 degrees while driving..At first trhe fan would come on when i turned the ac on but when i tried to test the other...

On this vehicle there are 3 cooling fan relays and three fuses for the cooling fans. There are 2 in the under hood fuse panel and 1 in the instrument panel. You need to check the fuses and make sure they are all good. They get there input via the coolant temp sensor for the computer which in turn signals the cooling fan relays to turn on the fans. The other thing with the a/c clutch coming on and off.If the a/c system is low on freon this will cause the clutch to cycle more.If you can get a scan tool you need to monitor the coolant temp sensor to see if it is reading the same as the temp on the temp gauge. The other thing you an do is check for codes.Hope this helps and let me know what you come up with.

The Auxillary cooling fan will not operate. I changed the fan and relay but it still will not operate. Engine temp comes up over 200 degree's and should pull fan on like it used to do.

Normal operating temp is between 200 and 210. If it gets hotter than that there is a problem. The system works as follows:
Temp sending unit sends signal to the computer which in turn completes the ground circuit to the relay which then turns on the fan. All connectors and wiring need to be clean and intact for it to operate properly.
To check initially you can put a piece of cardboard over the grille while it is idling and force it into a near overheat. If the fan comes on, it is working, if not, you need to trace the problem down.

Cooling fan doesn't turn on when vehicle is hot.

Could be a 2 or 3 Components, Cooling Fan Switch, or Cooling Fan Control.
Sometimes the Switches are not Bad ,but have Bad Wiring ,Not Connected good, Corrosion on the Switch Terminaltheres 2 on the Coolling Fan Switch. The Cooling Fan control Could also be not working because of Connection Bad or Corrosion.

They Both Work off the Engine Control Computer. They signal the Coolant Temperture to the Contoler and it Turns Fan on and Off.

I would personally Recomend you just Replace them since your vehicle is over 10 Years Old.

Should Find them around Radiator and Fan.You'll see the Wiring running to these .

When i drive the car at highway speeds it cools down and when i slow down it heat back up again wat should i do

if it only gets a little hotter, then there's nothing to worry about but if the temp goes into the red then you may have to get a radiator flush to remove any thing that shouldnt be there. also check to make sure that your sensor isn't just going out.

2003 malibu cooling fans don't work. I have replace the relay and the temp sensor and still nothing. When ever I disconnect the temp sensor the fans come on and work normally, but later in the day I see...

okay pull the temp sensor connector ( disconnect it) and turn car on if the fans run then its the temp sensor.... part # wt3000.
Theres also 3 relays that turn the fans on in the fuse box cooling mode fan relay @15 which is part number 7234. and cooling one # 1 which is 3604, and cooling fan #2 which is 7236.
I have the same car...give me a fan clutch cooling system anyway of the week. simple and efective no problems.
