After you take off the battery cable the terminal just screws out. Should be a place for a wrench to fit on terminal to remove.

follow this link for a owners manual , i have searched through and there is no fuse box , as with most motor cycle type vehicles there is usually just one fuse directly from the battery positive terminal which is a easy way to keep the electrical system safe and only have one fuse to check etc

How to remove a battery

Check your Owner's Manual for any special proceedures regarding antitheft features that need to be addressed before disconnecting the battery. Always make sure the keys are OUT OF THE CAR before you start. Anything obstructing your access to the battery must be removed. Always remove the negative terminal of the battery FIRST. There will be a "hold down" feature that securely holds the battery in place- either a strap or bar across the top of the battery, or a claw type clamp that kinda bites into side of the battery at the bottom. You have to remove "hold down". Old battery out, new battery in. Alway attach the negative terminal to the battery after the positive terminal. (Negative cable- off first, on last)

My friend replaced the positive terminal cable on her 2005 nissan altima with a positive terminal cable from the factory and now the car won't start at all. There is power to all the fuses and the battery...

It is very likely that the terminal is fine. Many vehicle owners are not aware that the newer factory installed anti-theft systems will lock down the car, ( prevent it from starting ), if the battery is disconnected for more than just a couple of minutes. In the future if you need to disconnect the battery, make sure that you dis-arm the anti-theft system first

You should be able to find out how to dis-arm/over-ride the anti-theft system in your owners manual.

I hope this helps you.

I just need to know how to change the battery.

The attached link will provide you with the owners manual for a 2001 Pontiac Aztek. Your battery is located on the passenger side of car car, right up front. There should be one or two screws that secure the battery to the tray (called a battery tray). Unscrew these screws and then remove the positive and negative battery cables. Pull the battery up and then out of your engine compartment.

Replacment Battery Information: Your owners manual recommends a maintenance free AC Delco battery. When it's time for a new battery, get one that has the replacement number shown on the original battery's label.

Please remember to rate my solution. Thanks!

The check engine light is on and the shop owner said there is a way to reset because there is nothing wrong with the car

Check the owner's manual for instructions on changing the battery. Usually you can reset the computer by disconnecting one lead of the battery for about a minute. However, there are certain automotive audio systems with a removable front panel that become unusable if you do not follow the proper procedure (this is intended to make them worthless to thieves). The owner's manual will advise you on this if you have a factory radio of this type. It will also tell you how to "retrain" the computer after a hard reset.

Some cars have a small lead from the positive battery terminal directly to the engine computer. This has a latching connector in-line a few inches from the battery. Disconnecting this will reset the computer, and is simpler than removing the terminal lug from the battery.

My dodge truck is clicking when i try to start it. finally starts after several attempts.

The first thing to look for is corrosion on your terminal ends at the starter and the battery. Make sure they are clean and shiny and secure when you put them back on. Don't forget to check the owner's manual for procedures involved in removing the positive terminal from the battery depending on your options, i.e anti theft, radio codes. If this helps a little but doesn't cure the problem then you are most likely looking at replacing the solenoid and starter. Hope this helps.

Need a wiring diagram for 1986 ford mustang 4cyl engine. Helping a friend with his 4cylinder mustang and when i installed the negative terminal on the battery then as i place the positive terminal it...

You may have the positive cable hooked in the wrong side of the starting selenoid or the starter selenoid is defective.

Follow the RED (+) cable from the battery, it goes to the starter selenoid wich has two terminals, change the cable to the other terminal, that should take care of the problem unless the selenoid is stuck on. Replacement runs about $15.

1994 Toyota 4 runner: I changed battery just fine; but can't get the fastener back in place.

I would make sure the fastener fits your battery and vice versa. Make sure it is not upside down or something like that. Is the replacement battery the same size as the old one? Battery REMOVAL & INSTALLATION NOTE: Refer to Section 1 for details on battery maintenance.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the terminal, then disconnect the positive cable. Special pliers and pullers are available to remove the clamps. Be careful of the many wires and fittings on and around the positive terminal. NOTE: To avoid sparks, always disconnect the negative cable first and reconnect it last.
  2. Unscrew and remove the battery hold down clamp.
  3. Remove the battery, being careful not to spill any of the acid. NOTE: Spilled acid can be neutralized with a baking soda and water solution. If you somehow get acid into your eyes, flush it out with lots of clean water and get to a doctor as quickly as possible.
  4. Clean the battery posts thoroughly before reinstalling or when installing a new one. A light coating of petroleum jelly or battery terminal spray protectant will help fight corrosion.
  5. Clean the cable clamps using the special tools or a wire brush, both inside and out.
  6. Install the battery, and the hold down clamp. Connect the positive and then the negative cable. Do not hammer them into place. The terminals should be coated with grease to prevent corrosion. CAUTION
Make absolutely sure that the battery is connected properly before you turn on the ignition switch. Reversed polarity can burn out an alternator in a matter of seconds.
