Hi! There is a large red wire at big terminal on starter solenoid and a smaller red wire that also goes on same terminal. The only other wire is purple and it hooks up to the "S" terminal.(start)hope you find this information useful!

How do I reset ignition on 1998 Saturn

power is not getting to starter, clean all thick wires that feed the starter, grounds, chasis to batt ground, chasis to engine ground.
after, do a test if the starter works by sending 12v+ to the small conector in the starter's solenoid... (if only clicks, is the solenoid, for confirmation bridge the two large terminals in the solenoid, carefull lots of sparks!!, if still NO work, is the starter)

Where is the starter and solinod for a 1998 sl2 saturn

solenoid is on top the starter. starter is on the back of the engine, under the intake manifold and fuel injection system. you need a lift to get at it.

I have a 98 saturn sw. Replaced the alternator, there's a wire, thick looks like it goes to the starter? Didn't take this wire off, don't know where it goes. possibly called the B wire. Alternator reading...

There is a heavy red wire that connects to the only terminal on the back of the alternator. The starter should have a smaller purple wire connected to the starter solenoid. A red (positive) battery cable connects to the top terminal of the starter solenoid. There also may be smaller red wires connected to the solenoid at the same connection where the heavy red battery cable connects. Hope this helps

How do i put a starter in a 1998 saturn sl

disconnect the battery cables,,go under the car,the starter is under the intake manifold,,,disconnect the 13mm or 14mm nut one the starter and wire and then disconnect the 8mm or 10mm(different depending on years) and remove the wire, then you have to 13mm bolts that hold the starter to the engine, remove the top bolt first you cant see it but you can feel it,,,then remove the bottom one and the starter will fall out and thats it

if by bypass you mean the ignition switch. jump it at the relay, find the starter relay the relay should have a diagram on the side and numbered posts on the bottom with a jumper wire you can jump the post in the power distribution. look at the diagram there should be a switch which shows normally open you need to jump the posts that would close this switch and this will jump you starter make sure you key is on to start the vehicle. hope this helps some

1998 Saturn SL2 will not start

Starter or coils, I would check the starter first since you can take it out and take it to a local autoshop like Kragen and get it tested for free. If that doesnt work then check the coils, on the very front of the engine near the radiator on the driver side

I have 1998 Saturn Sc2, and the problem is that when i turn my ignition on and try to crank it up, it says nothing at all, but the lights in the instrument panel light up every time though.

coul poss. have a bad starter, check batt and cable connections for corrosion. 98 does not have a passlock security system installed, but if it has keyless entry the keyless entry module could cause a no crank issue. the only way to find out is to check for voltage on the purple wire at the starter when key is turned to the crank position. if you have power the starter is bad. if you do not have power there is something else causing the no crank issue.
