Question about 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Truck

2 Answers

When the key is turned, all of the lights, radio, and windows work, but it will not start. No clicking from the starter. Last week all of the dash lights were on but none of the gauges worked, that seemed to have fixed itself because all of that is now working the way it should. All of the fuses are fine, could it be the relay switch? Where is that located?

Sound like your ignition switch might be faulty since you mention last week some part of the dash instrument work and some dint, common problems for the unit to wear and fail. Ignition switch work like a master switch, it turn everything on. if everything turn on such as instrumental lights on dash, assuming the battery is good and strong, and really no way test ignition switch it beside taking it apart and do the jump almost like hot-wiring the car. try this first before taking ignition switch apart, turn ignition switch to on position, and see if you can jump start the solenoid using screw driver touching the post or take a 12v light tester and see if you get any current to solenoid. if no current than my next guess would be the ignition switch.

1994 plymouth voyager wont start - dash lights turn on but no starter/solenoid sounds.

It could be the neutral safety switch, but if the starter was not working correctly before now, it could be the starter or solenoid.
You would need to check for voltage at the starter and work back to the key switch as needed.

06 pontiac grand prix wont start no clicking when you turn the key over even jump starting the battery, has dash lights & radio & parking lights. battery tested good. put a used starter & altinator on

Used parts such as starters and altinators don't last. It might **** but it sounds like you need to buy a new starter, altinator, and battery. Or just start with buying one at a time.

Turning ignition key there is silence....battery is ok as lights, radio come on strong. I keep trying, turning the key and moving gear shift et...and maybe it finally connects and engin fires and starts...

When this happens and the key is in the Ignition position, do the dash lights, etc come on? Could be the ignition switch is bad, and this is and easy way to tell. If the ignition is on and when we go to START, nothing happens, I would replace the starter/solenoid next.

Trouble starting and blinking dash

I had exactly the same problem this morning after returning from the store. I replaced the OEM battery with an Optima Red Top Model 25. Problem gone. Chrysler OEM batteries rarely last more than three years. You don't need to buy an Optima, but they do last a long time.

Good luck....

2004 KIA RIO-ENGINE WILL NOT CRANK

I would guess starter fuse first, then starter. When you turn key, if you don't hear a click, you should focus your attention on the fuse first and then the starter. If you hear a click, then most likely (80%) its the starter solenoid. try to start the car in neutral to rule out the neutral safety switch...good luck

Won't start

There could be a short in or near the ignition switch.
