My 2002 explorer has a brake lights on and they wont go out

My 2002 explorer has a brake light on and the back lights and the 3rd light are on steady. Even when I pump the brakes. I removed the sensor from the reservoir and still no change . I also sprayed the brake switch above the pedal with wd40 and pumped it good. and nothing, thats when the brake light came on. I just hit 100,012 miles and never had any trouble other than the brake switch which i had replaced with oem parts. been working fine until it rained hard one day. Please help

When light switch is off only 3rd brake light work, when switch is on the back lights are stuck on 3rd light works normal what could be the problem?

Are the brake lights stuck on or are you just seeing the parking lights on without the brake lights lighting up? Sounds like you have no rear brake lights, check your emergency light switch. Sometimes it may not switch completely, turn it on and off a few time and then recheck it.

Reverse light work but brake light and rear turn signal doesnt

If your brake lights and turn signals are out, you most likely have a blown fuse, burnt bulb, or a problem in the steering column.----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a 2003 ford explorer sport trac. The brake light are not working. The bulbs are fine. The fuses are fine. The 3rd light works. What could be the problem?

it could be the brake light switch, you should find it under the dash around the area of the brake pedal , a wire may have come off or the switch could be loose & needs to be adjusted & tightened up, also check the wiring around the brake lights for any loose or disconnected wires..........hope this helps......cheers.

Bar brake light above back door will not go out

If the brake light switch above the pedal was sticking, then all three brake lights would be staying on.
If it is only the axillary third brake light, than that is a bit unusual.
I am trying to image things like current being wired to the lights first and grounding at the switch. Then if the wire from the 3rd light was squashed and shorting, it would then only effect the one light.
But this is unlikely.
I would suggest removing the wires from the brake light switch, to see if it goes out then.

Having problems with brake lights. The hazard light and blinkers are working when applied. When I apply brake the centre light on hatch door works but the two side lights don't work

Well the fact the high mount/3rd brake light works proves brake light switch is working. I would suspect factory trailer connector wire which feeds off tailight is broken. Follow wire from plug back to left taillight where it is exposed to the elements.
