To clarify, the electronic brake force distribution IS an enhancement to the braking system. It measures how fast and how hard the brake pedal is depressed, and, using the ABS system, it sends a faster pulse of brake fluid, as determined by the speed and pressure on the pedal. It is NOT "ABS". That is a seperate system, which controls the skidding of a wheel or wheels on Ice, snow, or other soft surfaces whilst braking.

It stands for Electronic Brake Distribution which is like an enhanced ABS that controls braking pressure based on weight distributuion. If it is on all the time and is not controlled by a switch, i would take it to the dealer to have them test the system.

Electronic Brake force Distribution, EBD, they use that term instead of ABS. you need to have the systems check, make sure you have plenty of brake fluid in your reservoir. the sensor might be faulty.

How to activate ABS brakes on a 2004 Chrysler sebring v6

A larger four-wheel disc brake system was standard, and a new optional antilock brake system (ABS Plus) was designed to increase effectiveness in turns by controlling yaw in full and partical siutations. ABS Plus included Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), a new technology that automatically distributes braking forces between the front and rear axles, depending on how they can best be used, regardless of road surface. EBD replaced hydraulic proportioning valves and worked even when the tires had full traction, unlike most system

Ebd warning light is on, no brakes

Most common cause is low brake fluid or air in antilock brake system due to low brake fluid. Check fluid and top up if low. Other suspects are not so easy. Sensors and wiring and modules and such. Just hope it's only low on fluid.

How do i get emerengcy brake pedal off the floor the bell wont stop and rear cable driveing vme nuts truck will drive but bell is getting to me

Many audi and vw models manufactured starting in the later '90s and continuing to present, use the bosch 5.3 abs controller, which is prone to catastrophic failure, ostensibly due to defective design. this module controls multiple brake-related functions including the abs which is important for winter driving, but the most critical function of this module is probably the electronic brake force distribution, or ebd. these vehicles are designed such that if the ebd is inoperative, the proportion of hydraulic force applied to the rear brakes during emergency braking is as great as it is during moderate braking effort when there is minimal transfer of vehicle weight to the front wheels. the ebd is supposed to adjust the front/rear braking distribution dynamically according to the measure of the deceleration, so that the rear wheels will not lock up during emergency braking. if this module should fail during emergency braking on dry pavement, the rear wheels could lock up and cause an accident which could easily include fatalities. this is an expensive repair for owners, costing roughly $2000, and many owners have probably put off the repair indefinitely. evidence which can be found through a simple web search, suggests that the problem is widespread, and that if it has not already led to serious accidents, it is only a question of time. this problem is genuine, and vw/audi should be compelled to take immediate corrective action.

Once the APP has detected a fault your VDIM( vehicle Dynamics Intergrated Management system controls function such as ABS, w/EBD,BA,ECB,HAC,TRAC and VSC this allow operation together. ) gets disabled. Have the APP sensor troubleshooted. it is part of throttle pedal assembly and is not serviceable.

Lights and evertything else don't go on so I'm assuming its a completely dead battery.I know wear the battery is on my 1999 lumina but wear is the jumpstart terminal located?

Batteries have either top or side posts--some have both. Uncover the terminals and carefully attach jumper cables. Make sure to maintain the right polarity when you connect the other ebds of the cables to the good battery your are jumping from.

EBD is 'Automatic Brake Differential Lock' - should go out when you switch on the ignition.
