Hi,
There are two reasons why there are these problems: First, they take the coolant through the front of the manifold to get it to the radiator; Secondly, the intake manifolds are molded from plastic.
If you do want replace with the 'old stuff', you first have to do a entire engine flush. Once all of the Dexcool is out, you can then refill with the green. Make sure you let mechanics know this from then on. Otherwise they may put the wrong stuff in when the top you off.
Thanks
Smith.

What make , model an year vehicle ? Could be intake manifold too ! Take it to repair shop an have it pressure tested ,or go to harbor freight an spend $80.00 an buy cooling system pressure tester an test it yourself . GM V6 3.1 - 3.4 - 3.8 l engines had known intake manifold gasket problems ! But GM isn't alone in having this problem . Fix It Right Intake Manifold Gasket Replacement

2001 buick lesabre white smoke in idle after sitting for a week. Service engine light is on.

You are likely seeing anti-freeze burn off that has seeped into the intake or combustion chamber and is burned off on start up. The most likely culprit is the intake manifold gasket. It is so small that daily use does not yeild enough anti-freeze to notice on start up. But after a week of seeping it is noticable. The proper fix is a new manifold gasket the short term bandaid is a high quality coolant sealer. There is another possibility which is cylinder head gasket or cylinder head but based on my experience (38 years mechanic) it is not as likely with your car. Good luck.

My 2008 Chevy uplander engine light on and the code shows for cam shaft sensor and intake manifold what I do

The intake code means its leaking from the intake, bad gaskets, or a vacuum leak. check for bad gaskets on intake manifold. You can tell by putting a bit of oil around the maifold. if it is leaking the engine will flair up. To check this, External leak-- Coolant seeps through the broken intake manifold gasket to the outside of the engine. If its bad enough you will see coolant dripping from gasket. Coolant seeps through the damaged gasket to the inside of the engine, mixing with motor oil. If you suspect an internal leak, check your oil dipstick. Or if you have a substance under oil filler cap that looks like a milkshake, Oil is mixing with coolant. this means intake gaskets are bad, Now for the camshaft sensor, If you have a manifold leak. this could be giving you a false camshaft reading! Because, If sensor is bad vehicle will not start unless theres a wire problem. Symtoms of a bad sensor are--- engine sputtering, poor acceleration, stalling/inability to start. HopeI helped you out! Good-Day!

I have a 02 Chevy tahoe....it sounds like coolant rushing throughout the engine while sitting at an idle and about every 2 or 3 days I gotta add coolant its not much also the low coolant light comes on...

I would perform a coolant pressure test because these engines are known for leaking intake manifold gaskets.Check and see if your oil is starting to turn a creamy tan color.

Getting oil in radiator --but no water in the oil--its NOT a blown head gasket or head -we allready checked that out -it's a datsun 1971 1600 cc engine with very low miles =truck runs great

What about the possibility of a crack in head gasket between oil passages and coolant passages. Oil pressure would be higher than cooling system pressure, thus oil would be more likely to enter cooling system, than coolant enter oil /lube system. Just a thought. Have you done a cooling system pressure test, just to see if any drop at all in pressure? Seeing how engine would not be running, oil pressure would be 0, and may allow coolant to seep through same path, only from cooling system, to oil. Is it a large amount that your getting?

The oil pressure in my 1999 chevy suburban went down today and i dont know why it says that. it says that i have oil. plus for the last couple weeks i have had to add water and antifreeze to my radiator...

5.7L engine? That engine is natorious for the intake manifold gaskets leaking. They leak coolant out of the corners where the manifold meets the heads. They usually don't leak all the time though because the block and heads are cast iron and the intake is aluminum the expansion and contraction rates metals are different. As far as the oil pressure goes I would put a mechanical gauge on it 1st. for test purposes. It could be just a faulty gauge.
