My bonet on my 1 series wont close properly it doesnt appear to be catching in the release lock although the mechanisim is working when I press down on it manually. The bonnet is only staying shut because the opener catch/hook is working, but this is the only thing holding it closed.

Hi Ryan, on the fron cradle you should find 2 rubber grommets. These grommets should turn inwards or outwards, that should solve your problem. If this does not solve your problem try adjusting the bonnet catch.

My bmw 3 series passenger seat recliner will not work

You do not say what design 3 series; but for E36 with electric seat adjustment, Odometer Gears (link below), makes replacement gears for the electric seats for approximately $40 each. This is the part that typically wears/breaks for seat reclining.

I recently purchased a e36 1997 bmw 323i.i am trying to find out where exactly is the chassis and engine number under the hood of the vehicle.

The VIN number is the same as the chassis number of your car. The VIN number is found on the left driver's door jam B pillar. It is also found under the hood (bonnet) on the right side usually on the firewall. The engine number is found on the right side of the engine , forward, close to the timing chain (belt), down at the junction of the engine block and oil pan, is this information helped you? please vote me and give me a comment.

The ABS relay on the E36 316 compact is the red relay in the fuse box, which as u look under the bonnet is on the right hand side towards the back of the engine bay. If that is of any help to you?

top still needs to be adjusted to fully seat properly in the trunk/boot. if the upholsterer who replaced the top is not familiar with the adjusting process for a BMW, then i would take it to a BMW dealer and have them do the final adjustments.

Bonnet misaligned can I adjust ?

The hood latch, that's bolted to the front support, where the hood locks down should be your adustment of how far the hood closes down. THis should be loosened and move up and down to raise or lower the final resting position of the bonnet. Let me know if this is not the case. Thanks, TT.
