Oil change but oil continues to blink

Simple check first. Check your oil and make sure it is reading correctly on the dipstick. If it is low then add oil and watch everyday to see if the oil drops. If it is dropping quick enough to notice in a day or two then you have a leak somewhere an need to find that. A pressure test may need to be done as well to make sure oil pressure is high enough.

I have 1996 nissan sentra ex saloon philippines. When I am driving in first gear up to 3rd gear the engine dies during driving and acts as if needs gas then the check oil light comes out. What can I do...

You should check the oil level and make sure you have enough oil in. If the level is too low the engine may not even start. If you have enough oil then there's a problem in the oil circuit (clogged filter, faulty pump are the most common culprits in such case).

My 1999 Ford Taurus has the check engine light and oil light on. The lifters are rattling. I removed the oil pump and put a drill on the shaft and it pumps oil. Do you know what else it could be?

Just because the oil pump is turning doesn't mean it pumping enough oil. I think the first thing you should do is get a mechanical oil pressure guage hooked into the system and read the oil pressure you actually have. This will determine what to do next.

If you have a high mileage engine then perhaps a thicker oil may fix the noisy lifters. Go to 10W40 or maybe even 20W50. This should stop the lifters from rattling and boost your oil pressure if it's low. A compression test would help to confirm the wear from high mileage.

It could also be that the oil passages are partially clogged and while you have enough oil pressure, it's not getting where it needs to be in sufficient volume. If this is the case, I would try using an oil additive to help clean it up. Just be sure to increase the frequency of your oil changes to keep the crud out of the oil system.

It's also possible that your engine has enough wear and tear from mileage that it will need to be overhauled or replaced. Generally a good used engine is cheaper than a rebuild. Be sure to check out the warranty from the scrap yard first. Hope this helps.

Hi there, i need to top up the oil on my 2004 ford focus 1.6 c max petrol, what grade oil do i need?

Use SAE 5w-20 oil. Make sure you add slowly since having too much oil can be just as harmful to your motor as not having enough.

Leaking motor oil after i hit the meidian

Numerous things could be damaged causing the oil leak. Could be the engine oil pan is damaged or the oil filter is damaged. You need to have a mechanic look at the car ASAP. FIRST, be sure there is oil up to the full level. If it leaks enough oil that you can't get to a mechanic before it is low on oil, have it towed. You don't want to do serious damage to the engine by running it without enough oil. In addition to the oil you see there could also be serious damage to steering and suspension parts. HAVE IT CHECK!

Good luck, Thanks for using FixYa.

I just bought a 1988 VW Golf. I changed the oil and even checked it to make sure that there was enough. Well almost every single time towards the end of my trip the oil buzzer will go off. I checked the...

check to make sure the oil pressure sensore is working correctly,, you might need a new sensor.
could also be a sign that you are not getting enough oil pressure and this could be caused by a bad oil pump. but check the sensor first and see if this solves the problem.

2002 Concorde valves tapping

How long has it been from oil change. Have you checked Oil pressure? If filter is old and dirty fluid needs to warm to be thin enough to get enough volume to valve train. If oil pump is getting weak it will not pump sufficient fluid to valves at low RPM. First change oil and filter. After that make sure pressure is in spec's.

OIl light

Be sure to check your oil level, which I'm sure you have, and be sure your reading the dipstick correctly, by rolling it over and being sure level is same on both sides. My guess is that maybe your sending unit is getting a little sensitive. What will happen when you stop, the oil in the pan shifts forward enough to starve the oil pick-up in the pan enough that the oil pressure will drop just enough for the sending unit to alert you. The other possibility is sludge build up in your engine, is not allowing oil from top of engine to drain back down to pan fast enough, thus your basically running with low oil level all the time. Do you and have you change oil often ?
