Question about 1998 Jeep Wrangler

1 Answer

Erratic speedometer and odometer

My 1998 Jeep Wrangler's speedometer and odometer will work when they want to. The gauges will work and all of the sudden drop to 0, then jump back up to where they belong. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Odometer on my 2008 jeep patriot is not working but all other gauges are

If the odometer and speedometer are not working, it could be the speed sensor in the trans. If only the odometer is not working, its probably the speedometer head in the dash.

Instrutment cluster not working, gauges will not register as well as the odometer and tach?

You're welcome. I would try that harness repair first. It has fixed a lot of Wranglers for me. It is easy to do and relatively inexpensive. Let me know how it works if you do the repair

I am assuming from your post that the speedometer works but odometer is inop

the only fix is to replace the cluster or send your cluster out for repair

I have a 1998 Jeep Sahara and am having problems with the odometer and all gauges turning off while driving any ideas?

You may have issues with the wiring of the gauges. You may have to inspect the wiring harness that is at the back of the panel inside the dashboard. Inspect for loose connections, insulation that may have gone bad or bad terminals. If all wires check out fine, the gauge panel may be going bad.
