VW Polo 2003 A/C, intermitant problem with cabin temp' control

Some times if the cabin temp is adjusted up or down there is an undue delay in the reaction time of the heater to respond more often than not it will remain on the old temp' setting the only way to to sucessfully get the heater to respond is either switch off the car or the fan control and switch on again. Where do you think the problem is ?

The problem might be in one of a few places. The control unit might send the wrong info the the motor or the motor might be busy packing up.

The winscreen wipers on my vw polo (51 reg) have started coming on randomly. They then don't turn off until they are good and ready. Embarassing to say the least. What is the likely fault and is it costly?

when you use the washer function of the control arm you also turn on the intermitant wiper function, you need to quickly press the washer setting to switch it off.(bloody clever these VW designers.....)
