The stuff that you replaced could have an effect on the starting of the vehicle. Take the diesel pump and injectors for calibration this should solve the problem.

6.0 2004 F-250 was starting hard when cold, replaced glow plugs &harness still starts hard runs rough, glow plug light stays on longer now though

time for replacement of or severe cleaning with fuelinjection cleaner..also if diesel, add cold start to the fuel system..check and replace oil filter type fuel filter since jelling of fuel may be a cold start issue..crack open an injector line and see if injector pump is pushing fuel really well..and see if air cleaner needs replaced blackened element is not good..good luck..

HAVE YOU CHECKED WHETHER THE FAULT IS ON THE GLOW PLUGS RELAY?

Glowplug light comes on and goes off quikly, engine hard to start. Changed all 4 glow plugs and coolant sensor. Light stays on for a good 10 seconds when water temp. sensor is unpluged.

The glow plugs work in direct relation to the engine block temp. The relay for the glow plugs is obviously reading the wrong temp, that's why they turn back off. It's most likely that the temp sensor is bad, but trace the wires back and make sure there are no breaks in the insulation and they are well connected at the plug-ins. I have seen a lot of wires at the connector look good but fall off as soon as you touch them.

If the temp sensor is the same on for your your dash, then borrow a heat sensing gun and double check it against the guage. I have seen them read wrong by as much as up to 20 degrees. If the sensor reads rught and feeds both the guage and the glow plugs, then the problem would be either the wire harness or the glow plug relay. Hope this helps.

My car won't start..diag. says replace glow plug harness. Where is it and could that be the problem?

Hi the glow plug harness is the wiring for the glow plugs, it could just be the small wire attaching the 4 plugs, very cheap and easy to do yourself, that is if it is the smaller visable wire that runs over all 4 glow plugs, easily visable.

If not the problem could be more serious, I should think it will be but without seeing the car it's difficult to say.

That would definately stop the car from starting this is what heats the glow plugs to allow the fuel to ignite, without ignition it will not start

Also worth emntioneing the wire for the glow plugs could just be corroded or have a poor connection try cleaning the contacts are replacing, as far as I recall it should only be 4 8mm nuts to remove.
Hope this helps
Regards
Dan

Will not start in cold weather. Starts great if temperature is above 20 degrees. New battery and no problem found by mechanic.

There is a 5th injector called the cold start injector, that is electrically controlled off the starter. You can easily unscrew it while still attached to hoses and wires, and watch it squirt. You can also verify it is getting voltage with a test light or meter. There is also a thermal timer for it that could be bad and preventing current from the starter.
