Question about 2001 Audi A4
Couple possiblities your e.c.t is failing that sits on the back of your head if you can see it. it should have a green sensor that sits in the coolant flange with a 4 wire connector on top of it. there is a cir clip that holds it in place. If you are not getting much heat out of you heater then there is a good chance you thermostat is failing. it is opening to soon not allowing the car to get up to temp. if you temp gauge drops while on freeway that is a good chance to the problem . If all those check out it could be a bad instrument cluster that is the last and most expensive. and not a very normal issue. is you engine a 1.8 or a 2.8 or the 2.7 bi-turbo? hope that helps good luck
