How do you replace a front wheel bearing on a 2004

Where exactly is the bearing ? is there 1 or 2 ?, and what needs to be done to get to it? I got the rotor off , but need to know about the bearing.

you will need a hydraulic press to remove the old bearing and install the new one . also there are adjustable plates for extracting the bearing whick are press fit. not a job for at home

You will need just the bearing, I'm sure this is just 1 unit but is 2 bearings housed in 1 casing, if that makes sense,

Replacing front wheel bearings on a 2004 Suburban

The front wheel bearings are sealed units, and must be replaced with the entire hub assembly. They do not need periodic cleaning/replacing as they did in the old days, if they are not making noise do not bother with them.

Left wheel bearing replaced no alignment done.

the car does not need to be aligned after a wheel bearing replacement. it is a good idea to get this done every 6 months depending on driving habits though. good maintenance.

Replacing front wheel bearing

those are sealed units and are intergrated with the wheel rotor if the bearings are bad they must be replaced and those are dealer only items. labor for each side is about 1 hour for remove and install per side. unfortunately there are no aftermarket parts available just yet. hope this helps

Wheel bearings bad in front 2001 Ford Escape, any hints on repairing this myself?

I have a 2004 Escape 4x4 that I replaced a front wheel bearing myself last fall. It was not "easy", but it was doable. First thing I did was subscribe to Alldatadiy.com online to get detailed parts and service directions. For about $25 it gave me exact directions and steps to take. It did require some mid range automotive repair skills as well as a large hammer and a hydraulic press to reassemble. About $30.00 for the bearing and about 3-4 hours of labor...although next time I could probably do it in 2.

Good luck,

Pete
