Question about 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee overheated

4 ltr/straight 6; engine overheated resulting in cylinders #3, #4 compression at 30 (other cylinders @150); certain that head gasket needs replacing, but also hear a noise that sounds like rod bearing knocking. Would the knocking be consistent w/overheated engine or could this possibly be a valve?

You probably messed up a rod or caused piston damage your going to need more than a head gasket usauly when you over heat a car you causing the pistonts to expand more then they need to causing scouring and exsisive piston ware by the sound of it and the year your better off replacing the whole motor or completely rebuilding the old one wich will cost more then a use motor! good luck!

1999 jeep cherokee 6 cylinder engine light

1.Plugs
2. Vacuum leak
3. Injector fault
4. High or low fuel pressure.
Thats the list of things to check.
This is a #3 cylinder misfire.
There is also TSB about #3 injector needing added heat protection. This could definitely be the cause. I start at plugs and go from there.
Hope this helps.
Thank you,
Lee

95 Jeep Cherokee 0 compression in #2 cylinder.

If you have a 0 reading from cylinder 2 that means there is no compression from it and you need an enfine rebuild. It seems that there had been damage to the engine.Have it hooked up to a computer and check diagnostic code.Overheating of an engine can be very costly and damaging, rememeber that always.
