Hyundai clutch system

Hi there! I just bought hyundai starex model 2009. my problem is I used the van for only few days ( travelled for only 300 km) the clutch broke up emitted smoke with foul odor. the dealer changed the whole clutch system and advised me not to always use the clutch. my problem is we are living in a mountainous terrain and I always pass in a heavy traffic, making their advise so impossible to do.I told the dealer my problem and suggested if I can change my unit but they refused. I am posting this for your technical and legal advice. thanks

hi from uk for your info the function of any manual clutch is to take up the drive gently when a gear is selected also it provides a temporary!!neutral ie for moveing in traffic as you do instead of selection of neutral however you should not stop for long periods with clutch down and in gear but apply park brake and put gear in neutral having said this the prolonged missuse of clutch riding/slipping especially on hills will result in unnecessary but avoidable wear to clutch components especially the release bearing and clutch drive plate ! i do find it unusual that 2009 model has had to have clutch renewal ?considering your symptoms described as to what happened it would be more likely the clutch assy was faulty ?? however provided you do not ride clutchwhilst driving ? this is mostly the cause of the fault you have due to o/heating of clutch assy i find it strange ? that garage has fitted new clutch and given you advice you mention ??? just one thought tho if clutch was seriously damaged to extent your symptoms read i would suspect that the flywheel must have some excessive heat /cracks on its surface?? which if so ? will reduce the life of new clutch plate over time due to heat cracks opening due to heating up this in turn will plane away the flywheel side of the clutch plate with constant use of clutch spin as you drive in traffic hope this is of some help and in no way is predudice toward the repairs done ? merely a 2nd opinion of what may have caused this problem on a newish vehicle with not too much milage ?? these things do sometimes happen and most occasions due to mech failure or missuse ?

Need a heavier clutch release bearing and flywheel probably i dont know how well you use a straight drive but riding the clutch always tears it and release bearing up alot faster

SOURCE: Do I change water pump when having timing belt changed

I would go to auto zone and get a diagram and the timing belt and do it yourself and the water pump (no it does not have to be changed everytime the timing belt is changed but if the car has over 60,000miles then it is best to change them both) it is not that hard especially if the car is not out of time just make sure you disconnect the negative side of the battery

SOURCE: where is cabin ac filter located

If the air conditioner emits a foul odor into the cabin it is probably the drain tube on the evaporator core is clogged. What happens is the clog causes mildew to start growing and then it blows the stink right into the car. And to answer your question the cabin air filter location all depends on the year make and model of the car.

SOURCE: my hyundai 1.6 petrol matrix has intermittant

answer from the uk.you will only have a problem showing up if the engine management system records a fault within that system, so, the only solution is, if you have remote locking, change the batteries and use to unlock car not using the key.or if no remotes, change keys on a regular basis.(they are coded to the car) do not use grey (service key) only 2 x black keys supplied with car....check handbook re keys....

My friend had a similar problem. When he had it checked, he was told to spray staring fluid on the air filter and it started. So, he was told that if it starts by spraying starting fluid on the air filter, the problem is with the fuel pump. If not, the problem is electrical. So far, my friends starex diesel AT is running smoothly. Hope this will help you. Cheers.

Hi Guys I have 2004 starex crdi van ,,before one

I would start by spraying starting fluid in the air cleaner. If it starts you will know that it is a fuel problem. If not then it will be an electrical problem.
