Question about 1999 Daewoo Leganza

Daewoo racer manual 1997, battery charging light on (dim) and handbrake light on (very dim), both go out when revved up. alternator and battery both ok. i think it is an indication problem -- this has been happening for about 9 months, any ideas?

Electrical problems are the HARDEST thing to cure when the vehicle isn't in front of you.

Both indicator lights, at the same time, could be anyting from a short circuit to a sending unit, or..or...or.

I'd suggest you take your vehicle to your local dealer. and ask them to diagnos what it is...might mean you pay a small fee, but then you'll at least know what is making the lights flash on and off.

My toyota camry 1994 the CAa said that need to check the alternator because one when i start my car it wont start and they said my batterry charging is not good? is it true?

You do not state whether the starter actually cranks the engine or not. If it does so strongly, but the engine won't fire, then this stuff below doesn't apply.

There are several other things which may be the cause. Alternators are usually quite reliable, so check the alternator drive belt first to see it is not loose or broken. Is your charging warning light on the dash lit up? That should come on if the alternator is not charging.

The failure to start could also be either an old battery that will no longer hold a charge, or, the battery is OK but yes, the alternator is not charging it properly, or, the starter motor has a fault, or, in an auto, the start switch on the transmission has failed.

There is a test, but it needs the engine to be running. If you can get it started somehow, turn the headlights on high beam, have someone watch them, and rev the engine moderately.

If the headlights look dim at idle, and flare up brightly when the engine is revved, the battery is weak and the alternator is OK.

If they are dim all the time, it is probably the alternator at fault, or, the alternator drive belt is loose or broken.

If the lights are bright all the time when doing this test, it is probably the starter motor solenoid contacts. These do wear out in a Camry, and can fail only sometimes when worn down.

Brand new battery and alternator but the alternator won't charge the battery, why?

two possibilities that immediately come to my mind from past experience:

(1) check that 2-connector plug on the side of the alternator! if that is disconnected, or not connected tightly, the alternator will not work until the engine is revved up to about 3000. once the engine hits 3000 RPMs the alternator energizes itself and begins to charge.

(2) check the fusible links. they're in a small compartment next to the battery. I remember something about this happening to mine and it was a fusible link. there are 4 of them, the main one says "ALT NAT/BATTERY" and the next one says "IGN SW"... check those two. I'm willing to bet it's that fusible link. I remember that the car started ok but nothing else electric worked. furthermore, with that fusible link broken, the charge indicator (battery) light came on very dim when the ignition switch was off. did you accidentally short something when you did the alternator? I bet this is what's causing that.

Battery light came on and stayed on , lights dimmed on the way home, about 5km drive, then when i turned it off it never started again 1997 chevy cavalier

check belt to alternator-if good check wiring and connections to battery and alternator if good than have battery and alternator tested most auto stores offer this service for free ur battery or alternator are not working correctly either alternator not charging or battery not holding charge

1997 ford taurus GL battery light stays on or sometimes dim alt. checks o.k. what is the problem.

When you say it check ok, can you please explain what you mean in more detail, because if your Alternator light comes on or is dim, your alternator is likely not producing enough amps to fully charge the battery. The battery may test good, but the alternator has to work too hard to keep it charged. Have a check run on the amperage output on your alternator to see if it produces the factory recommended amperage. You can get a tester or probably borrow one from Auto Zone auto parts if there is one near you. If not, you can buy an amp tested from your local auto parts store or you can take it to your local shop and they might test it for free.

I found a manual on CD for my Daughters 99 Daewoo Lanos on ebay motors cars/trucks... type in 99 daewoo lanos manual and it should bring up some.

Battery warning light, handbrake light going on and off

You could have a alternator problem. When the alternator stops charging the battery you are running on just the battery. When the battery gets weak a lot of weird things starts happening. Have your alternator tested.

My lights started going dim on the dash. the voltage kight started comeing on and then the warning sign came on check chargeing system

You need a new alternator. Also check to be sure that your serpentine belt didnt break. The car was not charging the battery (either the belt broke or the alternator is bad) and running entirely off the battery causing the lights to dim and the voltage light and check charging system lights to come on. Flat battery

Sounds like your altenator. Take the vehicle in or just take in the alternator and have it checked for proper voltages. The alternator should be delivering 14.5 volts when running over 1200 rpm. If not then the vehicle will use up the battery power until flat. A tell tale sign is the front head lights brighten and dim with the revving of the motor. To continue running off the battery itself will eventually kill the battery.
