Had to same problem with power grid on door to windows and locks. Turned out to be 3 broken wires just on the inside of door connection to firewall of engine. Took couple of hours to locate and fix by mechanic for $55.00 after I had already spent $89 at GMC dealer to be told needed new wiring harness for $1700 before labor! Will never go back to Dealer!

if it is the display on the console, select the change oil prompt, press and hold the select button for a few seconds. the display should read 'oil life reset 5000 mi'. if the display is above the rear veiw mirror near the map lights, select the oil life reset prompt, press and hold both the set, and select buttons at the same time. refer to owners manual for exact procedure if it still doesnt work

I have a 2005 jeep grand cherokee and lately the "preform service" alert has been coming on when i start the car. I recently did a oil change is there any thing else it could be?
Yes. that alert indicates that your car's internal computer has detected one or more errors. In order to find out what these error codes are, the computer must be scanned. Dealerships usually charge quite a bit to do a scan. Recently AAMCO repair shops have been offering scans for free. Also many auto parts stores scan for free. When you do get it scanned be sure to ask the techie to reset the computer. Joe

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee I purchased it used in May. I recently had an oil change last week and it has 97,000 miles. The maintenance light came on what is the problem.
They did not reset the vehicle computer to tell it to say 100% oil life. Have the computer reset at a parts store such as Advance Auto or Auto zone, they will do it for free. If this was at all helpful, please rate. Thanks for asking.

it will tell you in your owners manual in the glove box under oil life,but most cars it will be to turn the key to the on position and push the gas pedal completely to the floor three times with in 5 seconds and leave the pedal up,the oil light will blink letting you know that it has rest.

Life expentancy of 1996 grand jeep cherokee engine
If the engine doesnt smoke to much and if you dont have to add much oil between oil changes and you cant hear any unusal noises from the engine you should be able to run that car for many more miles. My dad has a 92 Jeep Cherokee and he over 300,000 miles on it and it still goes as long as you take care of it with regular oil changes you should have no problems
