Loss of power with Check engine and VSC light on

When I tried to accelrate the car, it didn't pick-up and on the freeway after slowing down during the traffic jam, car lost power. Check engine light and VSC light came on. Could you please suggest some troubleshooting tips? Thanks!

There are several possible causes for the Check-Engine light coming on. First, it could be your oxygen sensors, PCV valve, dirty or clogged fuel filter or something as simple as a bad spark plug or loose spark plug wire. Also, contaminated fuel can also cause your loss of power and the subsequent light coming on.

Check the ABS system. Often times the VSC program on Toyotas and Hondas are tied in with that, which is what tells it which wheel to holdback to regain control in a slide or skid. Get to a pre-OBD scanner for toyotas and run the code. My guess is a faulty abs sensor or a/t lock up converter solenoid. Both are fairly common for this type of thing.

P.S. If you do not have the capability or the confidence to manually test these systems yourself, it's time to get the dealer involved. Be prepared, it will be expensive if that's the case ($300-1,000) for a problem in a vintage complex VSC system.

Hope that helps.

Power loss in range rover p38 4.6 lt when going up hill

the p38 is a bit sluggish and slow on long steep hills, really not geared for performance but more as a piece of heavy equipment. strong horsepower wise very formidable powertrain but you're not going to have that get up and go that many drivers look for. couple quick suggestions you may want to check your plugs and wires a common weak spot in the ignition system, and i might suggest also running i can of seafoam through your engine. you deposit in your gas tank runs through with the half a tank of gas. i'm not a big advocate of fuel additives or octane boosters but in the case of seafoam it's definitely a worthwhile and proven product. don't forget also your sport mode button down next to your shift lever push that button down and it keeps your transmission from overdrive so you can accelerate into freeway traffic and climb hills without your transmission shifting

Was driving down freeway when my check engine light and reduced engine power light came on and my Trailblazer slowed down to a crawl. It runs roughtly with no power. The ETC fuse was blowen, replaced it ,...

Trail blazers are known to have coil packs go bad, and you will loose spark on a cylinder. I would first get the check engine light scanned to see what the computer found. The etc fuse may have gone bad due to a wheel sensor issue, but, get the check engine light looked at first.

I have a 2003 lexus gs 300..the check engine light came on and the VSC OFF traction control came on and it stays on...i tried to turn if off, but the light just stays on

vsc shuts down any time check engine light comes on. repair engine light problem, reset computer monitoring system and vsc light will go off. must scan computer to pull codes for check engine light and go from there.
