I want to replace the fuel and PCV valves but I am unsure where they are in the engine compartment. Is there anywhere I can find a layout of the engine compartment that is accurate?

a Manuel is obtainable from a local parts store ...however the PCV valve is connected to the valve cover as far as the fuel filter should be under the driver side body of the car if in doubt follow the gas lines until you locate it as you follow them up the body of the vehicle

The PCV valve is a small plastic right-angle pipe located in the rear (firewall side) valve cover, on the passenger side end of the cover.
It can be removed by hand.

The fuel filter is located underneath the air filter box, it is a black metal cylinder, mounted vertically, about 6 inches tall and 3 inches wide with pipes mounted to the top and bottom. The lower is a 14mm flare nut, the top is a 17mm banjo bolt.

Is the pcv valve replaceable in the 2001 Sunfire 2.2L engine or is it built in to the valve cover

Yes the PCV can be replaced. It seals into a rubber grommet in the valve cover. See pitcure of valve below.

The hose that is connected to the pcv valve has a hole in it at the top behind the alternator..what is this hose called

It could be the starter relay. The starter relay is located in the engine compartment fuse box. Below is an overview of the engine in your vehicle. The fuse box is in the "C" position. Also below is a picture of the fuse layout for your vehicle in that box. The relay you want to check would be the one marked "STRTR". I hope this helps and good luck.

Where is the PCV valve located on a 2001 VW Beetle Turbo, 1.8L?

All these answers are WRONG!!! The PCV valve isn't located anywhere near the valve cover but underneath the Intake manifold behind the secondary air pump. The PCV hose starts just to the right of the base of the Oil dipstick tube and leads to the right (driver side) to a rubber T. The PCV valve is actually inside this T. You have to unscrew the clamps and carefully pull out the old Plastic PCV insert/valve and replace it with a new one. Most of the time you will also have to replace the hoses since they will be full of sludge/crud and may have gotten brittle from the heat of the 1.8 engine. It is very difficult to access the PCV valve on the 1.8 engine and unless you have doublejointed hands you may need to remove the intake manifold to get to it. But some have done it without removing the intake manifold. Here is a link to some pictures of the location of the PCV valve which in case is an insert residing in that rubber T. http://newbeetle.org/forums/1-8-liter-turbo/45626-pcv-valve-location-2000-beetle-1-8t.html

The heater control valve is on the passenger side of the engine compartment, below the fuel filter. It looks like a small black box with a cable coming from the passenger compartment attached to it.

Need to locate the pcv valve in a 1995 oldsmobile to replace it

If the engine is the 3.4L engine in the convertible then the PVC valve is under the intake for the plenum (the big silver cover with the 3/4L label) right in the center of the engine compartment near the back wall of the engine compartment, Follow the air intake from the airfilter housing back and right under where the big black hose meets the silver plenum is the PCV valve. ( I actually have one in my backpack today that I am going to replace tonight) Part number 2224 - BUY A GOOD ONE, not the cheapest one you can find.
