It really depends on whether the automatic transmission was an option or standard with the vehicle. If it was an added option then all the items such as the mounting brackets for the clutch pedal, the access hole for the shift lever and all the mounting points for the various components that are included with a standard should be in place. Although even if they are there it is still a task that will require quite a bit of time and effort. Most conversion from automatic to standard are done on 60's and 70's muscle cars where there is a lot of support for it.
Just make sure that you are aware of all the the little items you will need before starting. Good luck.
Hope this helps.

I have 1992 Toyota camry LE 4 cyl, 172,000 miles. The Overdrive off light went on. Some say I need my transmission fluid flushed (automatic) I have heard pros and cons about this. This light went back off...

your overdrive off light came on because the transmission was running too hot. You need to do two things; change your fluid and clean the trans oil cooler in or in front of your radiator. dropping the temperature of a transmission will prolong its life dramatically. I have diagnosed and rebuilt quite a few of them, and I do a lot of off road modifications where transmissions have to do extreme work.

Will a chevy s-10 motor work in a 85 mitsubishi mighty max

Not without using the chevy transmission (and transfer case if it's a 4WD Mighty Max), Custom Motor Mounts, Custom Transmission Mount, Wiring Modifications, Driveshaft Modifications (either lengthened or shortened, depending on where the transmission or transfer case is located). Possibly shifter hole modifications (if it's a 5-Speed Manual), or Custom Linkage/Linkage Modifications (If it's an Automatic)

1999 Dodge Ram, Automatic transmission. I am replacing the gov. pressure sensor in the tranny.. any help as to the location?

Buy an ATSG Manual for your trans ,at a wholesale trans parts warehouse. They are excellent and saves you getting an expensive shop manual. They are used by the trans shop rebuilders. Don't cost a lot.
They have a web site also. Just put in ATSG

How to to install a manual trans in an automatic 92 corolla

Sometimes the pinion gear is a different size for the automatic and smaller for the manual, make sure you get this right or it will chatter your teeth out. You also need to find a car like yours with a manual trans so you can pull all these parts out, shifter, clutch pedal, a hydraulic master and slave, your speedo probably won't work, or fit, maybe. Your propeller shaft might not be the same length, but you can get that from the donor car. I would find another auto to put in there, it would be easier. Hope this helps.

Saturn SC2 manual transmission modification

Manual transmision gears actually bathe in oil and distrubute the lubrication around the gearbox simply by the gears being connected to each other. In these boxes, the oil is not pumped as it is in automatic transmissions.

Some automatics build up oil pressure to shift gears while others use computer control. Manual trannies do build up pressure slightly because the of the meshing gears and the forcing and displacing of oil between the teeth, but nothing like an automatic.

The fluid in auto transmissions is pumped through the filter like it is in the engine. Since manual transmissions don't have a pressurized oil system, you will need add a suitable pump which will take oil from the lowest point in the tranny case and run it through a filter head (available at any hydraulic supply house) and from the filter output, back into the tranny.

You could position the filter in the engine compartment if you like. It sounds like a lot of work with little benifit. You will still need to drill into the tranny to access the oil and back in to replenish it.

I would recommend placing a magnetic plug on the drain (if there is drain) to catch the worn metal parts. If your really eager, just change the tranny oil more often and clean the metal off the magnetic drain plug.

Transmission for 1988, 350, conversion van

A turbo400 trans will bolt up but you will have to change the drive shaft as the output shaft is longer than the 350 trans. There will be no trans exchange with a different type that will fit without some modifications.
