Question about 1988 Cadillac Brougham
Hello, most likely you have a bad coolant level sensor located in the overflow tank. It will have a 2 wire plug going to it. Be sure not unplugged. If not,and tank is full, you will need a new sensor.Here is location and pix of the plug.
Here is the right rear of the engine compartment, in the surge tank
