Instead of telling you. You should go to autozone.com and register for full free online repair manual with extras. I recommend it to all my customers as a mechanic myself

Loosen the hub nut in the center of the wheel. Then raise the car and take off the wheel. Finish taking off the hub nut. Take off the brake caliper and rotor. Remove the stabilizer bar from the lower arm. Separate the lower ball joint from the steering knuckle. You may have to use a puller to push the cv axle out of the hub. Then gently pry the other end out of the transmission. Install is the opposite Hope this helps.

How do i change a c/v joint 95 dodge spirit

its better to change the whole axle it has both cv joints and both boots and its faster to do . the cv joint cant be changed with the axle in the car you have to remove the axle so you just install the replacement axle and your done just pick up a chilton manual at any auto part store for your car it gives you step by step instructions . price the cv joint and the whole axle and see the difference hope this helps

Grinding noise changes with speed stops when turned right. replaced left front wheel bearing. noise is still there. whats wrong ?

Does sound stop when you turn LEFT?

Turning RIGHT puts the heavy load on the LEFT front wheel.
That initially STOPPED the noise, correct? So why did you change L?

Turning LEFT puts the load on the RIGHT. Did you change the RIGHT?

Let's say this:
If turning RIGHT stops the noise, it's the RIGHT one that's likely bad.
If turning LEFT stops the noise, it's the LEFT one that's more likely bad.

Make sense? Turning RIGHT loads the LEFT wheel; and vice-versa as the WEIGHT SHIFTS AWAY FROM THE TURN.

More than likely it is what some folks call a CV joint problem, not wheel bearings. Try backing up and then going forward to see if "clunking sound" or a sharp "bang" is heard. Wheel bearings and CV joints only work if smooth. Sometimes a BEARING RACE is bad. Also, a bad spindle / part of the CV joint / transaxle assembly worn or badly machined. If in a WET ENVIRONMENT especially, u may want to try marine grade grease or teflon-added grease.

Does sound come from POWER STEERING PUMP area?

When turning sharply at low speed I hear a loud thump. 97 Lesabre

You may find it's either a worn CV joint or it may just need greasing up.
Check the bellows for splits, and if OK you can cut the large band that holds it in place, pull it back and check for grease, fill with grease and reattatch using a tie-strap.

Does the pitch and frequency of the "noise" increase as you driving faster?

Check both tires for nails or rock stuck on the groves of the tires.

Check the CV joint.

The boot which make of plastic can come apart over time. If you see CV grease all over the under carriage of the care then you will need new boots or replace CV joints.

Inner and outer wheel bearings can also make noise when they are about to fail.

Check you service record for more information.

Car Rumbles, CV Joint?

no you cant grease a cv joint, it is a sealed unit and comes pre greased! when you turn sharp at slow speeds does it sound like rocks rolling around in a coffee ca? then its a cv axle! also check large boots at both end of each axle. if the boot is torn the cv axle is either bad or will need replaced very soon! yes a back yard mech can replace easily but you will need a front end alignment when you are done! hints for replaceing! pop axle out with a pry bar at trasmission., to put back it use old end nut only 1/4 of the way on and hit with a hammer to seat lock ring then check at tranny to make sure it is seate! hope this helps

Have a 2001 Buick LeSabre. Vibration turning left . Think it may be CV Joint. How do I pull the axle out to check CV Joint?

Rasie vehicle, remove tire, axle nut and caliper. remove tie rod end from spindle, remove lower ball joint nut and seperate from spindle and pull spindle from axle, with pry bar pop axle out of trans housing. it is easyer to replace cvc axle than to replace or repair cvc joint.
