Have you purchased it yet? It shouldn't be a problem, as you just need to follow the enclosed directions. You have a newer truck, you probably can plug into the truck harness with the elec. brake controller (most trucks are set up for towing and it just involves a plug in to complete). The better controllers can be mounted in any position, (old or cheaper models had to be mounted level), so that also makes it easier. So, read over the directions, if you have trouble, post specific questions here.

The mounting is the hardest part of this whole job! The wiring belive it or not is the easist!! Just go down to your local parts store where you got your controller and get the handy dandy wire harness that plugs into the brake controller and directly into your factory harness. I bet it took me longer to type this than it will for you to hook up!

Get yourself a good trailer brake controller. If you have the tow pkg, which most of those did, then go get the adapter harness from Dodge (about $25) and wire that into the aftermarket controller (instructions will explain how to do this) and off you go.

If no tow pkg, then you'll have to wire one from scratch and if you are not comfortable doing it or have never done anything like it, you might consider having a repair factility do it for you? That way if it breaks....you get my point.

Good Luck

Where is the electric brake control harness connector located at in a 2008 dodge ram 1500?

If it was factory installed, under dash to the left or right side of steering column . I do not think this is a standard option and you may have to make one from schematic yourself.

2000 dodge ram 1500 ram brake lights do not work, cruise shut off not working from brake

You have a faulty brake switch under the dash. Look under the dash near the break pedal you will see a small switch that is depressed when the brakes are applied. Replace that switch. If there is now switch then you will need to have it replaced by a mechanic as it will be located somewhere in or on the master cylinder and that is something you most likely don't want to mess with.

Need wirering diagram to hook up trailer lights and elecric break

Also try http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx. They have a great website with lots of info. With the tow package, there should be a plug under the dash... far left above the emerg. brake petal. The harness that plugs into it should have came with the truck, or you can order one to fit it. Did thew truck come with a 7 pin plug on the back? If not you can order one from the above mentioned site. They also have the wiring colors.
