Question about 1993 Toyota Paseo
Where is the fusable link for the charge system on a 1993 toyota paseo?
battery is good. alternater passes inspection. there are 3 wires connected to the alternater through a 3-pin connector. 2 of the wires go to the fuse box by the battery. continuity from alterntor to fuse panel check good. where does the 3rd wire go?
Your alternator tested good right? The first wire should be a Red/Blue going to a 15A fuse labled GAUGE inside your car L/H kick panel. Second wire is yellow/blue going to your dash combination meter (charge warning light). Third wire is white/green and bigger. It goes to your engine fuse box 50A. You should have voltage at this wire when your car is running. 13.9-15.1 volts. If so ohm out your 50A fuse and your 100A fuse. Hope this helps

The thiree wires usually are, one large heavy dity main wire that takes the charge current, one charge indicator wire and an exiter wire, when a car starts discharging it is usually one of the diodes in the alternator failed, there are usually 6 of these(at least) andthey should be dead short one way and open the other way when they fail they can be lowish resistance both ways and this discharges the battery, it will still show about 14 volts and give out 5/6ths of its rated amps but will drain, the ignition light(or charge light) is just a bulb from live to one diode and unless it is that diode that failed the lamp will work fine. The way to check is to measure the current through the alternator when the car is switched off, it should be very nearly zero
