I have toyata camery 4cy car model is 1993 last time i was going to my work on the way my car is some problem that time i cheked my car transmission oil the oil was empty and i want to oil shop and i bought oil and put the tranmission section that time my car was workink only ( R ) reverse gear not working ( D ) drive and after filing oil not is working drive and L and how much lieter i should fil the oil .so plz help me wt should i do next.thanks
1st of all after filling the fluid levels while engine is running apply brake and shift from reverse to neutral to drive or overdrive then to drive to 3rd to 2nd to 1st or low in other words go through the gears to allow the torque converter to fully fill do this several times to ensure this as well as locating the reason for a possible leak and recheck with the engine running check the dipstick .this is a starting point in helping remedy the issue at hand to begin with

Never drive when low on transmission fluid, because it will cause lots of wear.
But the question is how much did you have to put in?
The difference between running and not is probably 3 quarts or so. After putting in a quart, you have to wait with the engine running, before checking it again, because it pumps it up into the torqueconvertor. It could be it needed a lot more, but you did not wait long enough.
But you also have a bad leak that needs fixing. If it is the torqueconvertor seal, you need to pull the transmission out to do that. And if the transmission is bad now, then a used one from a junked car, for a couple hundred, would be a good idea.
